Die Lage mitten im Zentrum ist ein gutes Argument, ebenso die gemütliche Einrichtung. Und: Die Küche hat noch recht lang geöffnet, im Verhältnis zu anderen Restaurants in der Umgebung. Das war für uns ausschlaggebend. Aber wenn man spät kommt, ist das nicht immer vom Personal gern gesehen. Das merkte ich auch, insbesondere wenn um die späte Uhrzeit noch recht kleine Kinder, die aber keine Probleme bereiteten, dabei sind. Man hätte sich ein wenig mehr an Freundlichkeit zumindest bei einer der Bedienungen gewünscht. Das Essen war völlig in Ordnung. Die Schneckensuppe war ein Gedicht. Die Schnitzel waren zart, vielleicht etwas einfach garniert, aber lecker. Im Hinblick auf die Bewertung eines Vorgängers sicherlich nicht das beste Essen in Deutschland, aber durchaus lecker.

We were recommended this restaurant by a local as the best place to find good German schnitzel in Freiburg. We were lucky to get a table as it was bursting with local Freiburgers tucking into generous portions of excellent food. It really does serve schnitzel and variations on schnitzel with excellent potatoes on the side so don't make the effort if you want choice or fine dining but for a really filling meal of traditional local food it is excellent. And a local schnapps to finish off is ideal

The Pfarrwirtschaft is located adjacent to Merkle's Restaurant Rebstock and owned by the same couple. Most of the food is prepared in the open kitchen, so you can watch your meal 'develop'. As with his 'Rebstock', Thomas Merkle offers only the freshest ingredients and the menu changes according to the season. The stress is very much on regional products and recipes. And if you are not sure which wine to order with your meal, you can trust Frau Merkle unconditionally.We felt that this place offers very good value for your money and will definitely go there again.

Used to be a traditional German Gasthaus (pub), some India decoration but thankfully didnât go down the kitschy route. Friendly service, food was good and not too much âEuropeanizedâ. Very reasonable prices. Will return for some other dishes that Iâd like to try. Just keep away from the after-meal granules - usually anise (coloured), but these tasted like flowery soap.

On a trip further South we made a lunch stop in Emmendingen. We entered Palio without many expectations and were pleasantly surprised: the food is tasty and made from excellent ingredients (I had a salad with a superb organic goat cream cheese). Service is friendly and efficient. Very good value. I will certainly return happily, if I'm around that area again.

Went with a group of my relatives (my wife's family), on a Tuesday evening in September. We were nine people. The restaurant wasn't busy but toward 8 pm or so it became more so. The ambiance is nice, a renovated brewery someone said. There are more larger tables than small, but they have a clever table divider with condiments to use as necessary. There is a nice outdoor terrace for fair weather. A decidedly different menu that is easy for all to read. I can see a somewhat "younger" crowd enjoying the cocktails and so forth, but they also have an extensive tea selection and other things for everyone. From their photos on their Facebook page it seems to be a place where people go to party, which thankfully no one was the evening we were there! I don't believe anyone had starters except for one pumpkin-apple soup (which was fine). I can speak to the classic steak, which was beautifully cooked (medium-rare) and nicely served, although the potatoes were essentially thick potato chips and not especially appealing. The Mediterranean steak came with a much more tasty potato. The lamb, as well, proved popular, served with an oregano brown sauce (on the side, and better tasting than it sounds when written). The service was OK if a bit impersonal. Prices were perhaps a bit more than one would expect, but if the food is well-prepared than that's acceptable. All in all there was nothing amiss, but neither was it a place I would rush back to. I can say that it is a different setting and menu then one typically finds in the Frieburg region. Non-German speakers would be well at home, I think.

....we stumbled upon this lovely restaurant whilst staying at a nearby campsite and what a find it turned out to be. We were greeted by very welcoming staff who could not have done enough for us. After struggling with our German we were offered menus in English and then went on to enjoy some of the best German cuisine we had experienced on our holiday and great value as well !!I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any one who might find themselves in the area and really hope that we will be able to get back there again soon.

We have ben here for a business lunch and also for brunch. There is always a peaceful atmosphere supported by a varied miday menu and pleasant staff. At lunch time the mini desserts are wonderful, just enough to be able to enjoy the taste without being overloaded

During a visit to this town, we enjoyed a very fine dinner here. Service was friendly (the kind where one is greeted by handshake) and efficient. The food to the most part was delicious. The "Vorspeisenteller" featured plentiful selections and was beautifully presented. I followed it with the Steinpilzravioli I ordered was very tasty and the mushrooms' distinctive taste was well preserved. My friend found her main dish somewhat disappointing, especially the Brägele (roast potatoes without bacon and onions but they were not roasted particularly beautifully). The selection of local wines to accompany dinner was lovely.
