Brasserie Vacherin is a traditional French brasserie brought to you by award winning chef Malcolm John. Like the best Parisian brasseries, the atmosphere is relaxed, the menu is varied to suit all tastes and the service is professional and friendly. The b
Our first time there on a Friday evening. Justifiably full and busy, with live music at the front of the premises, and more restrained dining in the rear. We thought people were eating outside in the garden but did not go to look!Malcolm John, owner and chef was working full time in the kitchen - a good sign, in my opinion, in any reputable restaurant.I had my usual 6 snails which arrived piping hot, followed by the confit de canard which literally fell off the bone. Both delicious. I had the treacle tart and ice cream off the specials board, which had some nice figs in it too.The two waitresses worked well, to keep us all fed and happy.A very good evening all round

Food excellent, pork belly was melt in the mouth. Wine great. Staff happy to meet individual requests. Thank you for a great evening

Went as a family of 6 adults and 2 children on Saturday. The food was great. The service was excellent. Children's selection very good value. The bonus was the Moretti beer was draught and not bottled. A very nice restaurant with good service, food and quality.

We have eaten at this restaurant with our son a few times. We always know that we will have lots of choice with fresh food cooked to our liking. The staff are always friendly and attentive without being too obtrusive. We love the menu here which is so much more than just pizza and pasta, although you can have that if you want.

Had food from the set menu. Very attractive ambience. Tables had linen table clothes and serviettes. Hummus, olives and bread provided as starter. Excellent range of mezze and main choices, lots of veg options. Food freshly cooked, beautifully presented, tasty. Service fast and efficient. Very good value.Thank you

We managed to book a last minute table on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy with many family parties eating. Our order was taken quickly with complimentary bread and chilli dip given. We noticed other tables around us that had arrived after us, were being served their food. We chased up our food order and it wasnât clear what had happened, the waitress apologised and the manager came over to assure us that our food was on its way. Our food arrived quite quickly after that. Husband said his steak was one of the best heâd eaten in a long time and cooked perfectly. My chicken shish was a generous portion with very fresh salad. We havenât visited for quite some time and had forgotten how nice it is. We will return again soon.

The Clink Restaurant at HMP High Down opened to the general public in May 2009 and offers over 30 prisoners full-time work within a true-to-life restaurant and kitchen environment. Alongside their employment the prisoners also train towards gaining nation
Our 2nd visit to The Clink, the 1st time at High Down. Our waiter Lenroy was very attentive and provided excellent service, we guessed he was quite new and thought he had probably been a waiter for a few months, we later found out it was his 2nd week. The food was up to any top restaurant and cooked perfectly, stunning presentation and served with elegance. It would be hard to pick a favourite course, we would probably say the dessert edged it with perfectly cooked pastry. If the High Down staff pick this up please thank the whole team for a wonderful meal and a special thanks to Lenroy for front of house service
