We were there on a sunday evening and it was crowded. Not so surprisingly since they serve very good food at very moderate prices. We drank Schwarzer Riesling, a wine we never tasted an loved. Personal is very friendly.

When one thinks of a German Weinstube, a place like Zur Schwarzamsel ideally comes to mind: cozy, traditional, with good but unpretentious food (we loved the Flammekuchen here) and a good selection of local wines, all served up with good cheer and kind prices. Our sizable group sat around a beautiful round table, enjoying the atmosphere and our fellow drinkers. The place closes a bit early (towards 22:30 o'clock), but then Speyer is a rather sleepy (but beautiful) town.

We went to this place thanks to a guide who brought us through all the best places in Speyer with a meal between each visit. This place was for the dessert. "Excellent parfait à la praline". It is well located next to the main roman Church. Nothing to complain about.

Casual Fine Dining Restaurant with a lot of good Wines and very tasty Dishes. Steaks and Fish from the Grill.
Very classical-style restaurant, but nothing is taken for granted. The ingredients are the best possible - beef filet, tuna fish filet, accompaniments -, the wine list impressive, the ambiance elegant, just a little old-fashioned, the service kind and competent. The bill for a truly memorable evening wasn't over the top.

Stopped here for lunch and wanted to eat outside, but there were no tables with shade. The Mother of the owner was sitting at table under an umbrella and she went inside giving us her table. The waiter was very helpful with the menu. We ordered Sen.Schweineschhnitz and gyros-teller.

Cute, quaint and cosy comes to mind, in describing this cellar restaurant. Stone walls and solid wooden furniture ooze character and charm. The cute âcat cornerâ adds the cherry to the cake. My comforting âhay roastâ (Heubraten), which is a slow-cooked beef, served with gravy and a side Spätzle and salad was tasty and melt-in-the mouth. My companions ordered a pan-fried poulard breast which was oh-so-pretty and pork steak, which they enjoyed. The extensive wine list featured a good local Pfälzisch selection, as well as the trusted and true imported full bodied reds. Our friendly waitress rounded off our dining experience. We chose the restaurant to entertain visitors from Australia due to its atmosphere and selection of local dishes and wines, and were simply satisfied.

We were defeated by the crowds at our first attempt to get close on a warm summer's evening but managed to get in for lunch a couple of days later. Strangely we found no disabled parking bays in the vicinity. The setting by the river is lovely, and the place was deservedly busy with people having a good time. The food was good- typical German- and the service especially friendly.

Prices ok. I know German food can be heavier than some, but this was stodgy. Schnitzel and salad were fine, but sweet potato chips were not sweet potato and not good chips. If I order belly of pork, I do not expect 2 slices of over salted preprepared pink sliced rolls of meat, The sauerkraut was good as were the bratkartoffel.....but a real palatinate meal it was not.Disappointing......I hope this is not the standard elsewhere.

A bright modern restaurant with inside and outside seating. Although it is in the Main Street it didnât fell touristy (menu only in German). The food was very good, with many typical local dishes.
