Meridiana has been in Horsley for such a long time it should be a go to local restaurant. Unfortunately there is a lot of competition from the many pubs in the area offering different cuisines and a lot more atmosphere. Under new ownership we gave it a try but found it lacking in customers, atmosphere and interested staff. The food was ok but not special even though they charge a lot for it compared to other establishments nearby which offer better value and a much more enjoyable evening. They now offer entertainment on specific evenings which may well bring in more customers but we wonât be trying it out until the prices reflect the type of food they are offering. Such a shame as we were very disappointed !!Sorry to hear that your experience wasn't great. Lacking in customers, atmosphere and disinterested staff - yes. My ex-restaurant manager did a fine job of almost putting me out of business, so I'm here all the time now to ensure customers get the service they deserve.I'm surprised by your comments on the food though - I hope you do try us again but understand if you don't.Duncan

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. There is good Italian food and there is superb Italian food - this is superb, unique, different, beautifully put together, amazing flavour combinations, and a real treat. The restaurant is ver pleasant, despite not having the best views (Sydenham Rd car park), but the service, the relaxed atmosphere, not being crammed in,and the comfort, all help make this a special experience. Very impressed - we will be back, not regularly, but for special occasions - such as this, it was our 35 Wedding Anniversary. Crab and salmon fish cakes, halibut carpaccio, tuna steak salad and olive mash, calfs liver, myrto and frangelico liqueurs all sublime!

I eat here frequently and have never been disappointed. The meat is flavoursome and freshly cooked. The portion size is perfect and the accompaniments are original and tasty. The staff are friendly, courteous and attentive without being overbearing.I couldn't recommend a visit to Nuros more.

We downright adore this cosy cottage restaurant in the Surrey village of Ripley, which was originally built in the 16th century. After surviving former lives as a dwelling and an antique shop selling Toby jugs, the Toby Cottage Restaurant was converted to
I hosted friends who had never been but had heard me talking of it. On arrival was given the normal lovely greeting, then shown to our seats with the special style that i onley see at the Toby. we were going to have the Sunday Lunch but friends still wished to peruse the menu and wine list which all agreed looked good and of course all had noticed the Sweet Trolley. The Toby's decor is rustic with beams and some are low, it has an old world of elegance and charm complimented by the friendly staff who nothing seems any trouble at all.to attend to your needs. Friends prior to being served were very interested in the differing foods that were passing our table and also remarked on the use of silver service but without it being pretentious.Yes we did wine and dine having the full three course Sunday Lunch, YES we were full but who could resist the famous Sweet Trolley, we could not. Succulent food, lovely atmosphere and impeccable service, friends did agree without being asked when are we coming back. I must also mention the bathrooms which also are of the high standard of the Toby. Thank you for a very enjoyable lunchtime event.

Visited with a mate on a Saturday lunch, we both just wanted a snack.Had the Scotch egg with pickle and the vegetable Samosas. Both were very nice but portion size was disappointingly small and with two beers came to £21. I understand that the full meals are better value but we won't be visiting again if only wanting a snack.

I have really enjoyed my time at Côte Brasserie: the place is elegant and clean, the Staff friendly and capable, the dishes very tasty and the price adequate to the quality.I will come back for sure!

La Casita "little house" we offer an authentic flavour of the Mediterranean from Spanish Tapas and Paella , to succulent fresh fish, meat and salad. We also offer a good choice of vegetarian options and our set menu specials are great value and a quick alt
The service couldn't have been faster or friendlier and the tapas were almost all pretty good (the artichokes were not exactly plentiful and the chanquetes were small whitebait not true chanquetes), but the meat dishes were very good and the menu price is excellent. However, a pint of Estrella at £5.50 and a bottle of Cruz Campo at £4.50 is slightly over the top. Having said that, the menu comes with a well- poured glass of rose, white or red (our red was more than adequate), so beers are purely an extra at choice..

We offer traditional Italian cuisine in the heart of Guildford, prepared by Italian chefs with only the finest and freshest ingredients. Both restaurants have their own unique charm and everything you need to enjoy a relaxed lunch, dinner or special occas
We arrived out of the soaking rain into a cosy, warm and welcoming restaurant. We were seated upstairs and very well looked after all evening by Martha. Martha was delightful and our evening was only made better by her excellent service and approach to customers. The food was probably the best Italian cooking I have had in England and better than a lot of the food I've had in Italy too... If it hadn't been for the awful weather outside I could have convinced myself we were on holiday. After a delicious bread basket with oil and vinegar we had the special of sardines in breadcrumb with herbs and the carpaccio with rocket and Parmesan, both were excellent. For main course we ordered Nastri seafood pasta and a pizza, but after having the pasta come out first (they were happy to split the dish into two bowls and stagger the main courses) we cancelled the pizza as we wanted to save room for dessert! I'm very pleased we made that decision because the desserts were incredible as well. We had the pear and almond tart and the Special which had chestnut paste, mascarpone and flaked almonds amongst other ingredients and a side of sweet wine. It's one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. It sounds quite rich but it actually wasn't over the top. There is a good selection of prosecco cocktails and the house cocktails were very reasonable. The price was very surprising to the point where I missed that service had already been added to the bill. We got excellent value. Thank you Oliva!

Tucked away, but handily located in the centre of Guildford, Positano restaurant is hidden within an intriguing red brick Elizabethan building that's bursting with character. The newly refurbished dining rooms, bedecked with dark-wood panels, original bea
We visited Positano at lunchtime without making a reservation. Luckily, we got there just after 12 as while eating we saw lots of people being turned away as there were no free tables. This goes to show what a popular restaurant it is! We were served by really friendly Italian waiters who were very knowledgeable about the menu including the specials. I did chose one of these (tagliatelle) and was impressed with both the flavour and presentation of the dish. My sons both went for pizzas which were huge and delicious. The building itself is old with very low beams but is a perfect setting for this authentic Italian restaurant. Itâs become our new favourite place to eat in Guildford!

We probably wouldnât have gone here for my daughterâs birthday, but for the fact that she and her brother and sister had decided to bike around the hills there. I really wanted to write a smouldering review, but think the final bill may be stopping me!The pub I have to say is dreary inside with absolutely no ambience whatsoever. That said, having read earlier tripadvisor reports we were intrigued at the rave reviews of the Italian food. Well, we were offered by the owner an item that I didnât see on the menu - a large antipasto platter with plenty of hot bread mozzarella and tomato and anchovies. To be fair it was delicious, but at £67 for the 5 of us, we thought it abit steep! The specials board was small and obviously fresh, so we opted for that. 2 of us had the chicken Milanese with chips and salad. A big plateful but my husband said it was very dry and over cooked. My son had an underwhelming cheese salad and other daughter a pasta dish with scallops which she enjoyed. I had a pasta with Tuscan sausage and truffles. It was average and a large plateful. We then shared a plate of profiteroles which were good. The whole bill came to over £200 and we did not have wine. Overall a good lunch, but I wonât be raving about it like some, and more importantly I wonât be back.
