Things to do in Sens

We took our French Friend Yvette to L'Helix on November 30th. The restaurant, a Logis de France , is so typical or the region that it may well be a film set. the 18.50 euro menu is absolutely fine . You get lovely home made pate du maison followed by excellent choice of entrees and mains, cheese and then pudding. All is good , copious and served with a speed almost unheard of in a French Restaurant. Try the poached eggs in red wine sauce for something unusual and delicious. All the mains apart from the salmon are delicious stews and fricassees served in little casseroles. Wines are very expensive though apart from the pichets which were ,in fact very good. Enjoy the food but mind the steps- Our friend , who is 73 took a real tumble on the way out because the door was so difficult to open she lost her balance.Luckily no serious harm done but that door needs sorting out!

We were there in December 2011. Recommended this great restaurant. We ate well and the food was of an excellent standard . Fish dishes were great .A Special diet request was well catered for without losing authenticity of French cuisine. Prices medium. Wine excellent choice available. Service v good and ambience wonderful - an old converted medieval/ beamed building. Would stop by Sens again just to dine.

Just a stone's throw away from France's most well-known Gothic cathedral, you will find quality gastronomy within a charming country inn that is rich in history and where the regional way of life lives on in the nicest of ways. The decor reflects a strong
The first three restaurants we had picked for lunch were closed on a Wednesday in June--one normally, two others for annual vacation. We walked by the Hotel de Paris and it looked trendy and had a local crowd. We enjoyed the 20 euro formula lunch. The wine list was a little expensive, so our bill was @ $95. The patio was full, so we ate inside which was very nice--white tablecloths, napkins, etc. Service was outstanding. There was a large choice of starters, fish and chicken plates, and three desserts. All were very good. The restrooms were very clean and modern.Dear Sir,We would like to thank you for the time and effort spent on writing your opinion about our hotel. It is a great pleasure for us to read that you had a pleasant stay in our hotel.Comments like yours make us each day to improve ourselves to always make you more service and comfort. Our menu "Postillon" has indeed become indispensable in our beautiful city of Sens, we are glad you could test it and enjoy it.Hoping to have the pleasure to welcome you again, please accept our most sincere greetings.

I come to Sens regularly,so I was delighted to find this little gem in a small pedestrian street . On a sunny day we sat outside and enjoyed a pleasant lunch, the food was adequate, nothing out of the ordinary. The waiting staff was a bit slow .

This restaurant is owned and managed by Patrick Gauthier the Michelin starred Chef who owns the attached Madeleine restaurant. Le crieur de vin is still a very high calibre restaurant with excellent French food and service. More affordable and less formal than La Madeleine but there is no compromise on quality.

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Service is spotless, food is imaginative and high quality, the Chef is lovely and accommodating of the patrons' wishes. The cheese selection is very very good and all recommended cheeses were spot on. Wine and Champagne selection is also nice. The chocolate dessert I had was, without any debate, the best dessert I have ever eaten in my life. Recommended for a lovely dinner out.
