Simple, classic French auberge dining room with large fireplace at one end.Food absolutely delicious, the starter with girolles and foire gras de canard was superb. The panna cotta with apricots and raspberries was delicious and the beef in between was beautifully cooked. We chose a St Emilion Grande Cru which was slightly sharp and I feel not quite as good as it should have been for the price (â¬69).All in all a very pleasant evening with friends (for whom this their local, lucky things!)

We booked this restaurant, after reading the many good reviews, by telephone the day before. We drove from Paris arriving at 1.30pm for the "second sitting". The lady who seated us at the toilet door (when the restaurant was almost empty at that stage) was unsmiling and sullen. The sort of attitude that gives french people a bad name.As the menu of the day included boudin noir as a main course (which is not our cup of tea), we chose the a la carte menu, having two salads and two main courses and an excuse for a cheese plate. The salads were OK but certainly nothing special, the main courses very ordinary and the cheese plate was pathetic. You would get better one at a roadside Routier. The wine was OK but expensive for what it was. This meal turned out to be the worst and most expensive one we had in over 6 weeks travelling in France, Italy and Spain. That coupled with the bad feeling that was conveyed to us from the maitresse d'hotel left a very bad taste in our mouths. We just can't understand the good reviews that have been lavished upon this establishment.

We loved our dinner at this wonderful restaurant just down the street from the cathedral. The staff is very, very friendly and the food fabulous. We had the salmon in a saffron sauce and pork in a mustard sauce and the dessert of creme brûlée and chocolate fondue. Our appetizer of poached eggs in a burgundy sauce (forgive me, I forget the French name for is) was absolutely delicious.

We were the first customers for the restaurant as they opened again at 7:00. I was afraid we were too early and the brick oven would not be heated enough to bake the pizza. But things turned out well. The pizza was good. The wine was good. The price was reasonable. The service was fine. We think the waitress was a bit uncomfortable because she could not speak any English. However, my daughter speaks some French and, again, things worked out fine. After all, we should be speaking French in France.

This little restaurant offers regional food which is freshly made. The owner told us that she is not using any frozen food and only vegetables and fruits of the respective season. Based on that the number of dishes is limited. Everything we had was excellent. The "terrine du Chef" was very tasty, the entrecote was à point and the home made fries absolutely delicious.

The LâHostellerie restaurant invites you to discover Burgundian gastronomy. Enjoy tasting the authenticity of our selection: generous homemade dishes using fresh, seasonal produce and refined flavorings. Let yourself be tempted! You will enjoy the restaur
We have avoided this restaurant for years. It used to be terrible. BUT PLEASE GO THERE NOW BECAUSE IT IS REALLY GOOD. Modern and fresh decor, utterly charming service and something for everyone on the excellent menu. If it is your first meal in Burgundy, the classic menu of Escargots, Coq au Vin, Cheese and a regional dessert is a must. Having said that, my husband had it both visits! The escargots here are the best in the area - and we know our escargot. My Scallop flan was so tasty, I could have eaten another one. The cheese plate consists of three cheeses that have, so unusually, been kept at the right temperature. Both the lady and gentleman that serve are extremely professional and delightful. If you don't speak French, the gentleman speaks excellent English. Choice of wines are very good, including half bottles and wines by the glass. Lunch time sees businessmen and apparently they are very busy in the evening. This is the best restaurant in Semur at the moment.

The steak was perfect. Sauces were good and generous. The accompaniments were a potato tartiflette (similar to dauphinois) and a ratatouille, which didn't go very well with the mushroom sauce, but worked with the wine sauce. We bought a bottle of pinot noir, but there was also reasonably priced wine by the pitcher. Service was friendly and fast. No complaints. There is a great poster of Semur-en-Auxois on the wall.

With its bistro tables, Italian vintage furniture and chandeliers from the Trianon Hotel in Versailles, LA FONTAIGNOTTE is the perfect place to enjoy a light meal, savour French snacks, discover flavours of the world and share an aperitif with tasting loc
This restaurant has a wonderful terrace with a beautiful view, inside has a charming decoration. The food is not excepcional and not tasteful. It is not value for money. For sure not a place to come back, although the people is very polite.

We tried to get in for lunch one day but were turned away from a bustling restaurant because they stop serving at 13.30. So a few days later we arrived in good time but it was a religious holiday so the restaurant was almost empty. This made for a slightly charmless atmosphere but the food more than made up for it. Very good cooking and some inventive combinations, all very tasty and well presented. Service a bit unsmiling but very efficient.Nothing to do with the hotel, but worth noting that the Lac is currently drained for repair work and very unappealing!

Cuisine traditionnelle de qualité. Vin de propriétaires récoltants. Menus du jour les midis en semaine.
From outside the place looks great. The owner is very kind and helpful. Inside it is a little bit cold but you are there for the food not for the design. In the plate it is not good . Everything is probably prepare before and reheated or frozen. No it wasnât a good experience.Sir, you didn't like the food that you ate in our restaurant. We don't have any comment about this personnal opinion and totaly respect it. Nevertheless, we can not accept you wriiting "probably reheated or frozen" about the food you ate here. It is slanderous. If you have eaten in this place, you ate cooked and fresh food. Yours faithfully.
