in short:- the longest waiting time you can ever imagine- awful, unfriendly and incompetent service- food acceptable but not great- very cold roomin more detail:We celebrated the baptism of our son in this restaurant with family and closest friends (12 adults, 4 children). This day was of course something very special, which you want to recall all your life. And we will do, but only because we and everybody of our guests could take this awful service experience with wsome kind of humour. The reserved room wasn't pre-heated, so when arriving it was freezing cold and only when we left 4 hours later the temperature in the room became ok-ish. So, most of the time, everyone gathered around the small heater. We had a pre-selected menu, which we handed in about two weeks before the day. We then waited about 30 minutes for the aperitive, which was still acceptable. But then we had to wait another 1.5 hours to get our soup despite some requests inbetween (our pre-selected menu just gave the choice between two soups, so shouldn't have been so difficult to prepare...). The taste was ok-ish, but at least one of the soups was a ready-made powder soup and a bit too salty. Anyway, we asked the waiters to bring the main course (two different ones were ordered among the group) as soon as possible, since it was already the nap- time of our son by the time we just got the soup and quite some people had to leave early, as they came from far away. Still, it took more than one more hour until the main course arrived. Some of the dishes were not even served correctly as ordered, but we decided to just accept them as they are, before we had to wait for yet another hour...The food was again ok, though the fish was quite dry and they used the same heavy sauce for a dish with four different kinds of meat & fish.We cancelled the desert as people had to leave. We just ordered one ice-cream with hot raspberries for the kids. This came...of course very late...when the kids already had their jackets on and it wasn't with real raspberries, but just a red dipping. On top of this, the service was very unfriendly and didn't even apologize for all the delays. They never knew who had ordered which drink and first accounted for 1 more soup, which we didn't have. We asked for the owner, who was leading the kitchen, to complain to her / ask her to accelerate the preparation time a bit, but she didn't even found it necessary to appear. So, I can only advice to never ever go there if you want to have a nice meal or friendly service (or a room where you don't freeze...).

Lovely atmosphere in this somewhat difficult to find restaurant. We were taken there by two business colleagues and they eat there all the time. The set lunch for about â¬10 is very good value because this is a beautifully decorated and has a pleasant ambience.Quite clearly when you walk in almost everybody knows everybody and out of a dozen occupied tables it could've almost been one large family gathering! The service was very good and the only thing of notewas that the portions weren't very large and to make a meal of it I would really Needed 2 courses. Having said all that would I go again? Definitely yes! I am sure that there à la cart menu has some hidden treasures.

Könnte man vielleicht geschickter lösen.

The staff is service minded and speaks english. The menu is only in German but they will explain or if you are Italian you can understand the dish name :) Location is central, nice interior and vibe.Food was served fast, tasteful and good price.

This perhaps the most sophisticated restaurant in Wuppertal, quite different from the "pub style" or traditional ambiance that many other places have. No bratwurst here. After 3 visits I can say high quality is consistent. Limited but varied choices on the menu, with varying daily dishes. Best and freshest ingredients.Ample parking round the back, walking distance from Schwebebahn stops.

I got placed at the hotel here on business through a series of unfortunate events. The hotel is basic. My original idea was to eat in Dusseldorf and just use the hotel but after my first meal I was sold. I ate here every night of my stay and not going downtown or into Dusseldorf. This Restaurant is far above its level for food quality. The servers did not understand a word of English but they were nice and we figured it out. I ordered off the game menu every night. First night was wild boar - the best I have ever had. Then each night to deer, goose and hare, all excellent. The side dishes were also excellent. Every night had some new form of schpezle I have never known. Soups were very good. This is one of the few times I have ever ordered apetizers just to have a taste. It is all German fair, a little on the heavy side but very good. Overall an excellent choice. Decor is simple and clean. Food is outstanding. I am heading back to Dusseldorf next week and trying to swing a trip to this restaurant as part of the trip. P

Frankly I cannot believe some of the reviews I'm reading... we have been to this restaurant many times now, as a couple, with friends, with family and everyone is always enthusiastic. Yes, it's expensive, so what? It's not like you go there every week-end! It is the perfect treat for a special occasion. The food is amazing: fresh, seasonal, delicious, imaginative, wonderfully presented. The staff is friendly and competent, There is a huge wine choice of both German wines and 'rest of the world'. There is, most amazingly, a spirits' menu which is much larger than the food menu: most of the Schnapps and liqueurs are distilled in loco and are excellent. We took one of our 'difficult' friends there: she is one of the best italian sommeliers and generally hangs arounds posh restaurants and top cooks: well, she thought the food was lovely, was very impressed by the wines, and the only criticism she had was that the waiter was wearing too many rings! Fine by me! Also worth mentioning that the atmosphere of the restaurant is better for dining, the atmosphere of the bistro is ideal for a few drinks with friends (although you can have your food there, I find it a bit too dark and the music a bit too loud, especially for a romantic occasion). All in all, thumbs up!! We'll be back again, and again, and again...

We are extending the search for the best italian to Schwelm... We tried 'da Francesco' on a Sunday evening, without booking. No problem finding a table for 2, although the place was well visited, and a few guests were accomodated on a pretty terrace (unfortunately giving onto the main street). I loved the deco inside, with some 'frescos' (including 'The last Supper') made to appear as if they were found by scraping the wall. The atmosphere is nice, although to say the service is familiar is exaggerated: the waitress had very long chats with some returning customers / friends, but only spent seconds with us. We had beef carpaccio and bruschettas as starters: the carpaccio was amazing (a beautiful cut of meat), the bruschetta was very good and with the right amount of garlic, albeit a bit small. My husband ordered a lasagna, but unfortunately the spaghetti con l'astice (crab) had run out, so I settled for black tagliolini with scampi. The latter were very tasty, and they definitely hadn't saved on the prawns. The lasagna was disappointing: nicely cooked, but we could find several layers of pasta with nothing in between, not much filling at all and covered with what was very likely Gouda. The classical italian lasagna doesn't have a thick layer of cheese on top, normally just a good sprinkle of parmesan, and if cheese needs to be (überbacken!) for the german customers, then at least some proper mozzarella! I then ordered a pannacotta, which came with a layer of caramel (so more like a crème caramel as a pannacotta)... overly sweet. So, overall, some great dishes and some less convincing ones. It's a good place, but we'll carry on looking.
