We ate here last week and loved it. The 12.50 euro menu was fantastic value. The cod with chive beurre blanc was fab. Why cant we get good quality, simple food like this in the uk?

From the starter to the dessert, everything was delicious (even the Barbouz beer :))You have to try the the lemon cake!

We ate at La Boussole a couple of times two years ago, from the set menu and enjoyed meals from the set menu. This time we took some local French friends, who hadn't eaten there before. We all decided on moules frites. Two chose moules mariniere, but unusually there was no wine jus with the mussels. Another had moules au curry, which seemed delicious. My moules normande was with a cider, cream and apple sauce, which was superb. And the frites were home made and excellent. However, the mussels were quite small and fiddly, and many did not open. The lack of sauce in the mariniere meant that they soon got cold. As we were entertaining, it wasn't appropriate to comment to staff, unfortunately.Sadly, the desserts were not exceptional, either, and not cheap at 6.50 Euro. I had rhubarb tart, which was more stodgy than fruity. In all, I was disappointed in our meal, and wish we'd chosen from the three course table d'hote menu, which might have been better, perhaps showed off a better standard of cuisine and was certainly better value. Not sure whether we'll return on our next visit to St Valery.Hello,We are really sorry about your disappointed for the mussels....It was mussels of bouchot, it is small mussels. We hope to see you on the next time in our restaurant and for the next time, take the set menu, you will not disappointed and it will be a pleasure to offer you an aperitf.......

We've visited twice in quick succession, the second time with French friends. The restaurant has changed ownership, and has been freshened up with new, more comfortable furnishings - a little more upmarket now. Both times, we ate from the 15.90 Euro menu, which has four choices of starter, and three mains. The fish soup and the marinated mackerel are both good. Sadly, moules no longer feature on the fixed menu, so we've sampled both the cod in chorizo sauce with rice, and the faux fillet of beef. Both were fine, though these are not particular favourites of mine. The French apple tart was very good, as was the crème brulee, and also the baked cheesecake. No doubt we'll visit again, though I didn't like a little more variety!

We popped in for lunch (with dog) and were warmly welcomed. Young energetic and incredibly friendly staff. The food was excellent and was a blend of traditional and modern French cuisine. Food was lovingly cooked and excellent. The cafe gourmands was awesome.

We hadn't visited this restaurant for a couple of years, but on two recent visits we've had very enjoyable meals, and so I should update my previous review! In August we visited, together with numerous family members, for an impromptu early dinner. Our 8 year old great nephew was keen to see the kitchen and meet the chef on our arrival, which was happily accomplished thanks to the friendly and helpful patronne. She even found him a chef's hat to take away!We enjoyed some of the best moules we've tasted in St Valery at the Eden, on two separate visits. The food chosen by the other family members was fine too, and the bill was certainly not excessive. In summary, I'd say give the Eden a try, especially for moules frites!

We dined here for lunch. The restaurant has a wide ranging choice of menus. We both had the â¬29 menu and were very pleased with what we had. The restaurant is pleasantly appointed. The tables were nicely spaced out although the tables for two were on the small side.

We had to wait 15 mins to order anything, even a drink. The staff were disinterested, only taking interest in people they knew whilst offering a slow impersonal service to others. The menu was pretty boring - we went for three different pizzas, all of which were drowning in cheese and featured limited other toppings. Wine - average. At no point did the staff revisit any table to check how the meal was going, apart from the people they knew. Avoid.

Lovely food at the restaurant du Port!We went for the 26 Euro menu, which we really enjoyed. The crab millefeuille wasn't a pastry confection, but layered beetroot and celeriac under crab, then topped with grated apple. So tasty! We were glad we'd ordered local cider to accompany the robust flavours of our meal. For mains, we had a home made confit de canard, and a superb entrecote steak, as an antidote to all the local fresh fish we'd recently eaten. Both meats were excellent, served with thin frites, tiny wild mushrooms (girolles?) and salad leaves.Desserts were also home made - a crème brulee and a tiramisu with fresh raspberries. The patronne and her assistant were helpful and professional, and we appreciated the table settings with linen and fresh flowers. In all, perfection! If I could find any fault, it's that I don't think the menus change, so the set menus could possibly become repetitive over several visits - if you're that lucky to make more than one visit!
