Christophe, the "Chef", does his best to make you discover traditional recipes from Provence (the famous aïoli, fish, grilled meat, tapenade...). The cuisine is generous, exquisite and original. You can stay inside in a lounge atmosphere, or outside under the plane trees. The restaurant is also a "café" where people from the village comment local events and sports. The village is very quiet and unique, surrounded by circular fortifications built in 1860 by Napoleon III against floods.

This restaurant offered one meal and only meal only on the night we stayed there. It was mussels and chips, preceded by salad and followed by desert. Despite initial reservations the meal was actually very good and we had a nice pichet of wine. I would say don't be put off by the initial appearahce and the limited choice.bonjour desoler de ne pas parler anglais car nous n avons pas pu nous comprendre le soir ou vous etes venu mais ce jour la nous fesions une soiree speciale paella donc notre carte n etais pas servi car nous avons un large choix de plats .notre carte n est pazs limitee desolle que vous etes arriver le soir d une soiree specaile

Hotel restaurant ****
This is a restored old mansion, done under the guidance of the owner, an architect. The house is restored with great taste, and good quality craftsmanship. The restaurant is particularly pleasant in the summer when you can sit outside in the magnificent garden. Our lunch was with a set menu, which gives you a few alternatives, fish, or meat. Food is excellent and wine selection is acceptable. Highly recommend.

This attractive commune nestles under an imposing ruined castle. There is a well preserved church with wonderful views across the Rhone valley. The restaurant has several tables under the trees in the square, a small courtyard and many tables inside. The food was excellent and the service friendly.

Probably, the title is overrated. Not because the foie-gras at Physalis is not good (it is very good!), but for sure there are other plces in Provence where you cand eat delicious foie-gras.But, for a very small restaurnat in Tavel, a family business, the achievement is great.I also recommend the guineea fowl breast with honey and, for dessert, vanilla and raspberry vacherin. Please avoid yhe panna cotta, which is an accident in a very well balanced menu. And, for sure, don't hesitate to try the famous Tavel rose wine, cause here is the place where rose wine was invented!

Between Romanic and Roman Provence, ideally situated between Orange and Avignon, the Auberge de Tavel, proposes a charming hotel and restaurant in the heart of a small village of the Gard county very well known for its rosé wine. The former village school
We had lunch at the Auberge de Tavel with another couple. It was our first time and choose it after reading the review on TA. The food is delicious with many munchies coming along the meal. The wine is list is based on local wines (Tavel, Lirac, Laudun, Chateauneuf du Pape etc.)My wife had the escargot appetizer and the presentation was fantastic. My fish stew was beautiful tasty and served with some "Rouille"I recommend this restaurant to anybody who decide to leave the main road.Prices are on the upper level but still very reasonable. You can count 40 to 45 euros per person including wine coffee dessert wine and before dinner drinks.Last but not least our waitress was on top of her game and provided an excellent service.

We had a nice Easter dinner of lamb and fish. Lamb was a bit over cooked, fish was tasty. We had to ask for an aperitif to start our meal, but was later recommended a fabulous bottle of Chateau Segries from the Lirac region. Dessert was strawberries that were delightful. A good find in a small town.
