We were very pleased to find this place. It's actually part of the Hotel Tunturi but is a separate restaurant in the Gielos building, and is open to the public. The menu is quite limited but the quality is high. We had a fish buffet starter which included a wide range of fresh, pickled and smoked fish along with olives, sun dried tomatoes, artichoke...you get the picture. For main I had a really delicious lamb joint, beautifully cooked in a rich gravy with a tart berry sauce on the side. My wife had a very nicely done white fish with vegetables. It was beautifully presented as was the lamb. This place hadn't been listed separately on Trip Advisor until I requested it - hence the very few reviews, but we thought it was very enjoyable indeed. They've got some nice wines too and the price was sensible for what we got.

We had had a busy morning and were very hungry for lunch when we went in. The reindeer burger was ordered and came served with a generous side of chips. It was a good choice! The burger was so tasty and moist...i could have easily ordered a second one! But the serve was big enough and i would never have managed it. The service was typical of the region, friendly and efficient. I will return on my next visit.

Our third visit confirms that the food is not the highlight of this experience. Perhaps the best is the afternoon lunch soup and breads offering in the Tunturi restaurant downstairs off the lobby. But all buffet meals are really needed a rethink to be honest.....

We decided to treat ourselves to a special lunch at what looked like a smallish eating area beyond a very upmarket shop. But we were in for a fantastic gourmet meal. Our best meal in 10 days in Finland in fact. It was a set 4 course menu which was beyond excellent. There is an extensive wine cellar to complement the courses. The service was impeccable and the whole meal was faultless. We only wish we had discovered this super restaurant earlier in our stay.

We had a snack on the top of the mountain, after having walked up. The food was OK, as well as the service. But the place was too crowded and too much people moving around with a lot of clothes and equipment on their shoulders, not taking other peoples' privacy into account, so the experience became somewhat unpleasant.

Went to Restaurant Pirkon Pirtti for dinner. We odered the Bouillabaisse Soup and Reindeer Stew. Both were very delisious. The service was really quick and really friendly. We also went to multiple other restaurants in Saariselkä, but I think this is absolutely number 1 restaurant choice in Saariselkä!

We have visited Saariselkä several times during the past years and we always come back to this wonderful restaurant. Great food, amazing service and beautiful lappish decoration. Small details are important: candles, fireplace, plates and cutlery and even the taxidermy local animals. Beer list could be more exiting; where are the products of local small breweries? Definitely one of the best restaurants in Saariselkä area. After following these guys on Instagram for a while, and dreaming of sitting on their cosy looking, fur covered, fairy light lit benches, I finally got to visit, TWICE!The Nutella pancakes were decadent and the company was lovely. If youâre looking for a picture perfect spot for a sweet snack and a tea on your visit to Saariselkä, this is the one!
