In the afternoon of our first day in Prague, we took a walk from our hotel (the Intercontinental) and checked out the nearby restaurants ) We immediately thought that the Verandah would suit us well. The decor was appealing, comfortable and unpretentious. Although called "La Veranda", there is no outside area and in fact there are steps down to the room from the street entrance. We were 2 women and we asked our concierge to make a reservation for 7pm.He had no problem. Perhaps because it was a Sunday evening and quite early by Czech standards.We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. . The menu was quite short but varied and included 2 fish dishes and a vegetarian selection. We both ordered fish and a glass of Czech wine. All excellent.Our waiter was a little stiff and not very friendly. I hope it was not because we each ordered only one course.!

Great service, beautiful place, lovely fresh vegan food. £27.42 for two mains and two soft drinks. The food wasn't as tasty and was more expensive than other veggie/vegan places we visited in the city but still very good.

This is a fabulous restaurant that excels on all levels.We had the a la carte menu and all the courses were wonderfully presented and more importantly, everything tasted delicious. The wait staff were professional and friendly. The restaurant decor was modern and quite intimate. We would love to go again, but it's a long way from Australia!

This is a beautiful restaurant with an expensive view and a menu to match. We did the tasting menu with wines, and while everything was outstanding, some things caught our attention that deserve to be noted.Liver. Foie gras. Duck, goose, etc. Deliciously prepared, truly, but 3 times in one meal? Not a liver meal? There was asparagus several times also (pieces, mousses etc.) and the wines ( all white except steak course) tended toward sweet (except the grappa finale, ick, Iâd have killed for a Tokaj or Sauternes), as did many of the accoutrements of the meal. A prawn was left off both our plates during that course. A prawn each was brought out upon mention, but at these prices I kind of expect near perfection. Did I mention all the foie?There was a large loud table on the terrace which detracted from the ambience, but you canât help that. No signage at the entrance to direct you up another flight of stairs. And that grappa. All the food we ate was truly delicious, just didnât feel like a Michelin experience.Dear "Sue H",thank you very kindly for your review. I've been to this restaurant several times with family, that live nearby. It has a really comfortable atmosphere, good service, good food and drinks.I've only always been in winter time and it is so warm inside.I don't live in Czech republic (yet) but always enjoy visiting this restaurant.

I ate here with my girlfriend dinner and lunch the next day. On both occasions, the staff was very friendly and professional. I ate one of the best burgers in my life and a traditional Czech meal and I was extremely happy with it. They have also nice beer and all this for 25-30% cheaper than in the busy city center. There were not a lot of people, so we could enjoy our time.I want to recommend the place to everyone, who wants to eat good food, pay less than in the center and have a quiet time away from the masses of screaming tourists.Thank you for your visit and wonderfull review. This restaurant is far from tourist area where we live near Charles bridge. Uber is very reasonable and get there in 25 minutes during traffic hours. Service - Either we got lucky or that's just how European hospitality is, very professional, knowledgeable about the dishes and attentive. We were also went there at 6:30 slightly before dinner rush. Food: impressive, sophisticated, great value. Home made Elder flower lemonade. I actually don't like drinks that are too sweet. But while my wife get a glass of wine, I've decided to get this lemonade. I was very impressed. The Elder flower was very refreshing and the lemonade wasn't even that sweet. Nicely done. And I stressed, very refreshing. Mushroom with fried egg. The egg was done almost perfect. The yolk was cooked but not well done, I'd prefer it to be more yolky but that's just me. The texture of the crispiness of the fried egg was good as well. Maize cream soup. The pop corn was a little weird but the corn soup was magnificent. Sweet and most importantly flavorful. Carp - excellent job. Crispy on the outside and the fregola was done perfectly. Honestly, I expect more on the sauce but then I just noticed I mistaken this as the 1 star Michelin restaurant. So I was writing a review based on Michelin star resident. Hence, they did a wonderful job already. Pork belly - I'm especially impressed with this dish. I supposed, the quality of the pork belly just have something to do with it. This is nothing like those I had at Michelin star restaurants in SF Bay area. The pork belly was not fatty, it's crispy on the outside and not a lot of greasy fat but crisp meat texture. These are all grilled unlike the traditional pork belly where they roast it to crispiness. This is much better⦠Not as heavy. The baked carrots were flavorful and I liked the curled carrot roll which taste a like sweet and sour. Again, the sauce can be improved. Pana Cotta - delicious, not carat about the grilled pear or peach. But finessely done with the rum yogurt ice cream. All in all, I'm quite impressed with the food and the value. Haven't been to other Czech restaurant yet but this place sure idea great value and quality.

My wife and I are perfectionists. Our meal, with my son, his wife and 3 boys was perfect in every way. Menus in various languages including Czech & English. Great ambience. Excellent for children including an outside play area but if you are a couple them I'm sure you could find a quiet table to enjoy a peaceful meal. My Duck was excellent and my wife's Beef Bourgogne was delicious. My son had Lamb Shank, again a delight. Attentive courteous service. Worth making the trip for, about 25 minutes from Prague Centre...check it out.
