This little restaurant was very close to the B&B where we were staying and we were most impressed by the quality of the food and the excellent, helpful service. The staff were most patient with our dodgy French and explained some of the dishes to us. These did not disappoint with really well cooked food in a friendly and fun atmosphere where nothing was too much trouble. Not in the most beautiful part of the city centre but this certainly did not detract from the experience

This is a small restaurant off the beaten path with excellent food and great service. The Esquisse menu included 4 courses which were all delicious and very well presented. At 30 euros, this is exceptional value for money. If Clermont Ferrand is on your itinerary, you should make a stop here - you won't be disappointed!

we had dinner here and beside us there were only one more table occupied, but still the service struggled to deliver the menu, drinks and take the order in a timely manner. As to the menu, ⬠32.00, we did ask what one main dish means and the explanation sounded good. The dish was greasy, lots of fat to cut away and no taste, the side dish was also disappointing. We left almost all on the plate. The service did not to wonder.

We came here for lunch. The restaurant I understand is new but had quite good ratings. The service is average, not fantastic: we had 2 waiters one who was very amiable, and a female who was extremely rude to us and forgot most of what she was in charge to serve us (bread, salt etc). Now I give only two stars because outside of the service, the food was a real deception. We all got their most expensive dishes (entrecôte with ratatouille, pommes sautées, tagliatelle) and there was no taste, no seasoning effort... It was sad to eat and I felt ripped to be charged so much for this insipid meal. We left without dessert or coffee and won't come back.

This is the kind of review I probably shouldn't write as ... i don't want to find myself unable to book a table here! The food is always excellent, changes every day ... there is a fine wine collection and the very genial Claude who owns this restaurant always greets his customers with kindness and appreciation. Julien the waiter and sommelier is excellent too and speaks English. If you are looking for a superb French bistrot experience, then this is it.

Pricy, a bit depressing atmosphere, but good !Being in Clermont-Ferrand I wanted to try one of the âstarredâ restaurants.Having tried some others before, I went for a new one : Apicius. The website was very nice.First I realized it was closed on weekends. This is bad. Then I managed to go on a Monday. The atmosphere is rather depressing. It was only elderly people, not very crowded, no music and the atmosphere even if topped by some red sofas is cold. The service is much average, not worth as starred restaurant. The food is creative (but not too much) and real good. The wine list is not very good and too pricy for what it is.Overall a good experience thanks to the very innovative and good food.I would still recommend the place if you are not depressed and not on your own and rather numerous to create the atmosphere yourselves.

I've walked past this location dozens of times and until I was asked to join a group here for lunch, I had no idea there was a restaurant here. That makes me sad for all the times that I could have dined here -- but didn't. If only I had been wiser....I'm never quite sure what to make of the often brutal French reviews for restaurants on TripAdvisor. Sometimes they amplify points I agree. Sometimes they make a bigger issue than I might make over a minor transgression. In this case, I am simply baffled. The service, from the moment the doors were opened, was impeccable. The dining room is, indeed small and, yes, a reservation is advisable -- but the small room adds to the atmosphere. It doesn't detract from it. If you have a reservation, you'll appreciate the ambiance. The wine menu has a broad selection. For our varied lunchtime meal choices, we were thinking a red Sancerre would work and we were pleasantly surprised to see this uncommon wine on the menu...for a terrific price, too. (Beware: Loire wines are listed in the same section as Auvergne wines, so don't skip past the Loire offerings when skipping past the Auvergnat wines, as I almost did.)The fixed menu offerings are reasonably priced and allow for ample flexibility. If, however, you stray into the a la carte section of the menu, the prices skyrocket. If money is an important consideration, there's no need to depart from fixed menu options -- even for vegetarians. As for criticisms regarding portion size, perhaps it was the fact that we were dining at LaMartne for lunch, but I had no sense that anyone in our group would leave with hunger pangs. This holds true whether ordering price fixe or a la carte. All in all, as lunches go, this was one of the best experiences I've had. Once you find Pavilion Lamartine, you'll be glad you did.

Clearly a very popular eatery in Clermont-Ferrand and rightly so. The layout is simple, friendly and unpretentious and so is the service and the food. This is the kind of place where you can drink beer with your hamburger without feeling guilty for not having ordered wine, and you will leave the place smiling after eating their clearly well made food and even after paying the very reasonable bill.

Expected great things from Hotel Radio restaurant but was badly disappointed. The dining room is very pleasant; well lit; comfortable and noise levels were OK even on a busy Monday evening. Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Took the 6 course tasting menu which ends up as 8 or so with the amuses bouches. These were very nice.... The first starter of foie gras pressé with lots of "citricy" gels/purées was very nice. The next course, scallops with beetroot only tasted of beetroot of different textures and tastes - some just cooked; some highly acidic...overall it ruined the scallops which disappeared into the background. The next course - fish, St Pierre was not nice either. The fish was overcooked and had a rather anaemic colour - tasted as though it had been kept warm on the pass for too long. The accompanying sauce and the tartare of seaweed were over-flavoured (lemon) and very salty. Overall, not a nice dish although the accompanying little tart of quinoa cooked in squid ink was very tasty. The meat course was slow cooked veal - sous-vide I would guess with some crispy veal sweetbreads. The veal was OK but the taste again spoiled by a thickened gloopy sauce and celery everywhere - confit with the sweetbreads and a puree with the veal.... The desserts were nice... and very pretty. Excellent cheese board.Sad. Having eaten in hundreds of Michelin starred restaurants around the world, this one just doesn't add up on the food front.
