Great find. Very good value for money. We both had the âPlat du Jourâ and it was delicious! We were greeted warmly and shown to our table before making our way through a very adequate meal; selection of buffet starter, main course of Turkey in some kind of sauce with vegetables, cheese board before choice of dessert... and this included half a carafe of wine also!!!! Oh and the price? All inclusive â¬12.80 Superb!!Merci beaucoup pour ce beau commentaire En espérant vous revoir bientôt

This is a lovely place to have lunch, there is no choice for main course but it is all served up with such gentility it makes a lovely experience. The first course on our visit was charcuterie or quiche, followed by Andouillette sausage , we weakened here and asked for a steak,a lovely selection of cheese and a pudding of delicious chocolate cake, then coffee. They are open evening I think Friday and Saturday and Sunday lunch when there is a bit more choice. If you are visiting the nearby Roman Remains it is very convenient and you won't be disappointed I can't just put my finger on it the fact that the food arrives on a platter to help yourself rather than just slapped on a plate shows a care for the customers you don't often come across these days. Thanks !! Sorry for french sausage !The menu change every day.Best Regards

This restaurant is very convenient to town and very pretty, especially if you can eat on the patio. Best of all, the food is delicious! I had an assortment meal that included gazpacho, green beans, artichoke, prosciutto, melon, quail, and maybe one or two other things. I also had the Cafe Gourmand for dessert which include three different small servings of desserts. Everything I had was wonderful!

Set in the heart of this lovely French town, we visited this lovely restaurant. The food and ambiance really authentic had a great meal. The only downside was there was no English menu, so if your French isn't up to much definitely take some sort of translating device.

We arrived at this lovely restaurant for lunch today to discover I had booked a table at a different restaurant by mistake (embarrassing and entirely my own fault). Although they were fully booked, the lovely team at Le Vieux Moulin still managed to find us a great table on their outside seating, and treated us to a superb meal from their â¬34 menu. Every single dish was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, right from the amuse bouche to the desserts. The waitress was extremely helpful and attentive especially to our daughter, double checking she was happy with her choices and offering just the right amount of advice. With a lovely setting as well, this is a superb restaurant which I cannot recommend highly enough.

Having had a couple of drinks here in the past we visited La Meteorite for lunch as our favoured restaurant in Rochechouart was unexpectedly closed for the day.Being a glorious day everybody was eating in the pleasant courtyard on the tables that looked about 20 years old and in need of some tlc. We ordered the 'menu du jour' for 12.8⬠and I know that's a cheap price but believe me we have had lots better for that price elsewhere.First of 3 courses was a fishy coleslaw salad which was quite runny but reasonably tasty. The main course was a mixed grill. This consisted of two fried sausages, one of them a red merguez, the other a thin porky sausage, a very fatty small pork rib, very over cooked chips and a cold vegetable side consisting of mushy courgette and a yellow pepper I think. The vegetables were slimy and cold. The dessert was a rum baba. This came served in the plastic tray it was in when removed from the supermarket carton, it was frankly tasteless and had a very unpleasant texture and was garnished with some candied fruits.I am afraid we were very British and put up with it but it's a mistake that we won't make again. La Meteorite is good for a beer, the regular menu may be ok but this experience has put us off.

Our usual haunt in the town wasn't serving food that day, so they helpfully recommended this place. There is parking outside, but not an enormous amount, I would say, and if the town is busy, there could be a shortage. The Hotel restaurant has got a choice of menus and selection of wines at reasonable prices; bear in mind this is an hotel too, so the higher price levels reflect that. The staff are friendly and helpful, even when under pressure when we went, on a very hot day, with lot of patrons! We chose the â¬18 menu, although there are cheaper two and three 2 and 3 course daily menus, plus childrens' and express menus. The food is well presented and cooked, in a country style by an obviously accomplished chef. The portions are more than adequate; the salmon salad starter was almost a meal in itself! The kidney main course was tasty; nicely out of the ordinary and the cognac sauce was a good complement. Lastly, the third course offered was either cheese or a dessert. A good home-made apricot tart was chosen from those offered. The cheese selection was impressive; and fresh too! - see photo. I do not recognise at all the complaints in the very critical one star review given by another TA reviewer and will happily return here or recommend to others.

Called in recently on a hot, bustling Saturday. It was late lunchtime. Despite having no reservation and the town packed with fête attendees they managed to fit us in for lunch. In the good French bistro tradition, there were only two choices for each course and even these were becoming limited. We enjoyed an unhurried lunch at our hastily re-prepared table and remarked how well run and hospitable it was.A definitive favourite of ours whenever we visit the pretty town of Rochechouart.

It's a big gamble taking ownership of a successful restaurant but Laura and Paco seem to have succeeded beautifully. This cosy restaurant, in the imposing shadow of the Chateau de Rochechouart, has kept the very highest levels of cuisine...and some. Our terrine starter was generous and flavoursome, The magret de canard was cooked to perfection and appetisingly presented. The dessert was to die for! A Chocolate Dream that just melted in the mouth. Helped down with a sensibly priced red Sancerre, our celebration lunch was everything we could have hoped for, with friendly and courteous service from Laura. Well done, you two, we're delighted to be able to add your restaurant to our list of favourites to recommend to our chambres d'hôtes clients.
