Things to do in Oberkirch
This is a delightful hotel with a great restaurant. It is set in a residential area about 15 mins walk from the Offenburg train station. We visited so that we could take the train from Offenburg to Donaueschingen a great trip through the Black Forest. A little dated in parts but that is its charm. Good parking. The chef has a great menu of traditional German fare, great flavours. Good choice of dishes and price range. Nice little garden with childrenâs play area. Booked direct via email, good efficient response. Would visit again to enjoy restaurant. Helpful pleasant staff. Unusual combination of great restaurant good hotel, Fantastic value. I agree a great base for the Black Forest, and saves on the high Swiss prices.

The food was freshly made and exceed our expectation. Salad dressing was very nice. Generous portion of main dishes. The prices were reasonable. Breakfast was great.

Drove to the restaurant for lunch. Roads are very narrow and would hate to meet a car coming the other way. Parked near the restaurant and walked up the pathway. Lots of seating and lovely views over the countryside. Shame that peopleâs can smoke in public where food is served. The meals were large and quite delicious. Service was good and we enjoyed our lunch. Recommended.

I stayed 2 nights in the gasthaus here, and ate dinner here both nights. Since the restaurant is listed separately, I'll write separate reviews...We were there during their Christmas market (small town, Weihnactsmarkt only open 10-12 Dec). The place was packed both nights, with locals gathered for family or company holiday parties. Still, the busy staff accommodated us without delay. The restaurant claimed they specialized in wild game, but we didn't have any. Wife had the schweinemedallions, I had kalb cordon blue. Kids shared schnitzel. The servings were large, and absolutely delicious. The prices were a little higher than normal, but well worth it. The restaurant was festively decorated for Christmas, and it is very obvious the owner/manager took great pride in the restaurant. We loved the food, and the staff were friendly and even spoke fair English. And we stayed there to visit Strausborg (30 minutes away). Half the price and twice the value. And the town of Oberkirch is cute too. Very family-oriented Christmas market of there own, only 200 meters from the restaurant. Plenty of free parking too.

Out of a party of four, one was fully satisfied and the other three less so. The welcome and service is friendly, the ambience delightful, but the food somewhat uninspiring. One complained of excess onion, another that the vegetables were dull, and my cordon bleu pork was rather heavy and uncompromising (though the chips were good, and plentiful). In times past the cooking here was safely at the top of the premier league, but now we are suffering mid-table blues in a lower division. Not a bad place, but no longer the best...

Welcome to our restaurant and hotel peacefully situated among vineyards in the heart of South Baden. Experience the renowned hospitality of our region and feel right at home. Our authentic Baden cuisine is recognized for being light, fresh, and creative.
The meals at this gasthaus are truly praiseworthy. Breakfasts provide a variety of fruit, cereals, German meats, cheeses, breads and preserves (many homemade). The dinner menu is comprehensive, so we settled for the tagesmenu (menu of the day) on 2 occasions. This was a 3-course meal with appetiser, extremely well presented and tasty - and different each time. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone that appreciates fine dining at a reasonable price, prepared by and under the supervision of the owner, Peter Zimmermann
