Find out what European restaurants to try in Nova Gorica. Nova Gorica (pronounced [ˈnɔ̀ːʋa ɡɔˈɾìːtsa] ( listen); population: 13,852 (town); 21,082 (incl. suburbs); 31,000 (municipality)) is a town and a municipality in western Slovenia, on the border with Italy. Nova Gorica is a planned town, built according to the principles of modernist architecture after 1947, when the Paris Peace Treaty established a new border between Yugoslavia and Italy, leaving nearby Gorizia outside the borders of Yugoslavia and thus cutting off the Soča Valley, the Vipava Valley, the Gorizia Hills and the northwestern Karst Plateau from their traditional regional urban centre. Since 1948, Nova Gorica has replaced Gorizia as the principal urban centre of the Goriška or Gorizia region, as the northern part of the Slovenian Littoral has been traditionally called.

Pikol is lovely log cabin on a small lake minutes from Nova Gorica. It's family run and lovingly prepared. We had apperitifs outside and the rest of our meal inside. One of the special treats was the tableside preparation of carpaccio. Fascinating to watch a pro at work. Most satisfying to taste whst he's prepared. The food is superb and it's served well. One caveat: You will never be rushed, but lots of time may pass while waiting.. We were there for four and a half hours.

In the center of Nova Gorica, a lot of space for groups or couples. Nice atmosphere and (factory) design. Nice service, great burgers. Could add a bit more fries, which were also great.

No diner card here, but a waitress who reads out the daily changing menu to her guests. It took some time but she managed to make a nice english translation and we had a good lunch! Prices were very reasonable.

We stopped to eat dinner on the way to Slovenia. The service was friendly, and the food was good but the portions were enormous and meant for sharing, so do not order a plate per diner as it will go to waste

This is authentic and old fashioned restaurant in Gorizia town centre.Food is nice and fresh and the staff extremely friendly and polite.Don't think they've changed the prices since the eighties...probably just converted from the old lira to euros! It's a place you shouldn't miss if you're in the area

This restaurant may technically be in Italy, but its menu has clear influences from nearby Austria and Slovenia. The interior is full of fun decorations and the staff wear Austrian dirndl outfits. Lovely atmosphere and good quality food. The free glass of Grappa at the end was a nice gesture.

We have been here before and we came back because we had a great experience last time. Also this time, everything was perfect. We ordered appetizer, main dishes and desserts and everything was just delicious. The service is perfect, they are very polite and helpful and they really know to do their job, if you need any advice or you wanna know how some dish is prepared they explain everything. Also the ambient is very nice. Last time we sat inside because it was cold but this time we sat outside and it's even more pleasant. There's no road and you are surrounded with nature,I think that the price is really reasonable for what you get, we payed about 30⬠per person for three courses, a few beers, some wine, coffee and digestives. We will definitely come again and I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

We're coming here by a co-accident, founded here an charming place with pleasant atmosphere, modern but very cultivated way of serving, excellent balanced tastes of anything we tried ( fish based meals) wide choice of wines. Definitely place where to spend marvelous and romantic evening ... love their thin crusty polenta. Romantic dinner.
Top 10 Mediterranean food in Nova Gorica, Styria Region, Slovenia
The hotel and casino have a very nice à la carte restaurant, quite unexpectedly. Top class service, very nice food, great Slovenian wine. The somewhat oldfashioned atmosphere is something I like (so do not expect anything trendy here). I spent a very pleasant evening here. My bill amounted to a mere 35 EUR, including half a bottle of truly magnificent Slovenian wine. Yes, this is a place to return to.
