The Italian restaurant Bella Sardegna profiles itself as a real Italian restaurant on their web site; the restaurant exists since 1981. Sitting in the restaurant you observe the open kitchen; Italian is spoken by the staff. Why is it that in the Netherlands the "Italian" in the Italian restaurants is on the surface only; Bella Sardegna is no exception. The fact that Italian speaking staff is present in the kitchen makes the disappointment for customers who are familiar with Italian culture even more profound. To summarize: No table cloth on the table, not even place mats. Standard the pizzas in Bella Sardegna are made with Edam cheese. When you penetrate this secret and ask for mozzarella, you are charged an additional 2 Euros for the privilege, which in Italy is basic pizza preparation. Furthermore, salami is routinely substituted by an inferior Dutch variety, called "cervelaat". The "Saltimbocca Romana" I ordered was a very casual interpretation of the original recipe. Yes, there was meat in the dish, and ham and somewhere sage, but I am sorry, but it was nowhere near what I have enjoyed in Italy. For dessert, the ice cream seemed a bit off and the panna cotta was no show stopper. Where I have to compliment the restaurant was with the excellent service. As value for money, that is always a problem in the Netherlands even if you can look back on a satisfactory meal, so I can't recommend Bella Sardegna on that point either.

Had lunch here for two on a Friday afternoon, despite the fact there was a large wedding group coming in, service was flawless and we were able to sit outside in the big garden, in the same area as a group of people who were having a business meeting (day in the green). Lunch was outstanding with light and very well prepared dishes, can recommend the tasting menu (Proeverij in Dutch) as well as the chicken and pear salad, both very good. Later had a team lunch and four course dinner here, also outstandingly good with very well chosen matching wines.

we had a good buffet with a whole family. There was enough food. The staff keep it clean and ask frequent if we need something. the atmosphere was good. every one liked it. And next year we coming back. In the family where a few small children. There was a children room where they could play.

A decent restaurant in the middle of the woods! We came in here for lunch after a long (for a Scottish couple) cycle. Well worth it. Good service...reasonable food and a very pleasant location....if passing I would definitely come in here again.

The location was adjacent to our hotel but made me take the risk eating here was that as we walked but the person who later waited on us was patiently helping a gentleman with a walker out of the rerestaurant into his awaiting car. The menu is based on the number of courses that you want. We opted for the entree and dessert. For the main meal, you had a choice of beef, fish or vegetarian. Next he offered complementing side dishes. For dessert, there were samples of multiple desserts. The meal was excellent-even for an extremely selective eater. The desserts were fantastic. The entire experience was extremely enjoyable both with the food and interaction with the young man who guided us through our dinner. It made dining a pleasure.

For three days in a row, we have enjoyed the three-course menu served as part of a hotel reservation. The menu was different each time, but all of them had been prepared carefully, were original, very tasty and ... beautifully colorful. The vegetarian variant (for one of us) also was really great. The servants were all rather young, but all very professional and polite. The restaurant is located in the white, solemn frontal part of an old mansion with a distinct ambiance up to the smallest detail. Together with a nice view on the countryside --- what else could you possibly want?

Because I like 'schorseneren' a lot, I asked the waitress if they could replace the vegetables that went with my dish, with the schorseneren. Much to my surprise, she said it wasn't a problem and that the kitchen would just add a portion because I liked it so much. It's always nice if staff handle a question with such grace. Also, as a vegetarian, I usually only have one choice, mostly pasta. I was very happy to see that the menu of 'the wapen van Norg' had several options of vegetarian dishes.Nice soup and a Portobello filled with goats chees, made for a tasty meal.
