Every once in a while one gets lucky and finds a gem of a restaurant while driving from one city to another. On our recent drive from Aarhus to Copenhagen we stopped at a charming looking restaurant in Middelfart. Not only was the building inside like a return to the past but the owner Mr. Rasmussen had a Victor Borge charm. Couple this with some of the best open faced sandwiches we had on this recent trip to Denmark and you have a memorable dinning experience at a modest cost. It does not have a Michelin star like some of the restaurants we visited in Lyon but for what it says it is it gets five stars from me.

At Mauritz you have the opportunity to either enjoy the meal in the our cafe or have it as a take away - we cater for everyone! Whether you would like to have a cup of our freshly made coffee or a nice cold beer with friends or enjoy a meal with your chil
We had a coffee in cafe razz and it was really busy so decided that weâd find somewhere quieter for brunch, we walked past cafe Mauritz and it looked inviting and empty (not always a good sign)We were greeted and offered a seat wherever we wanted and then the lady suggested a sea view table, which was nice of her We both ordered three items from the brunch menu and it was delicious I had salmon and cream cheese, chips and a stuffed mushroom, also served with four different breads and butter My friend had similar but went with egg and bacon and sweet potato fries The service was exceptional and out server was funny and friendly, the food was really nice and just the right amount to fuel the walk around middlefart I really donât understand why it was quiet and razz was full, maybe as thereâs no parking at Mauritz Iâll definitely return and try one of the signature burgers and hope the standards of this visit are the normal levels Thank you for the tasty brunch

I've stayed here several times with work and never eaten in the restaurant - I normally eat in the bar. The last time I went I enjoyed a casual business dinner with my boss in the Dannebro and was expecting the same food as in the lovely hotel bar. Christ, how wrong was I? We went for the six course tasting menu - a showcase of Danish fine dining, of local flavours and sourced ingredients. As with so much about this wonderful country, you think you know something then they surprise you. And keep on surprising you.I fancy myself as a bit of a food critic. I can confidently predict that were this lovely little restaurant in London, or indeed in Copenhagen the head chef, a charming Danish lady I sadly forget the name of, would not just be adorned with Michelin starrage, but she would be a household name. People would flock from all corners of the globe to eat her food. That she goes about her business with quiet Danish excellence at this lovely little boutique hotel in the shadow of the iconic Snoghoj bridge with such little fanfare that you cant even find her name online, is a travesty. And at the same time charming and comforting. So the food. It is a procession of deftly-produced and smartly-dressed little plates showcasing simple and not-so-simple flavours in a very complimentary way. It is hyper cool. There are foams and dusts and ingredients like buckfast and freeze dried cucumber (in a dessert no less) all serving to push the focus of each plate forward, begging you to love it. And you do. From the olive butter with the stunning little mini loaves of bread to the rapturous pork loin, this is easy to love. Everyone should be trying this - it is that good. So there is no Michelin star. There's no waiting list. There's not even a celebrity on the table next to you. But the food is genuinely world class. A thing of beauty somehow very much at home as the sun goes down over the river and the startling beauty of the Danish countryside around changes into evening. Service is as good as I've ever experienced - yes really. You've probably guessed I really enjoyed this meal. I am considering flying friends and family over from Dubai solely to experience it. Awesome. A real pleasure and a privilege.

Atmospheric restaurant with a view. The large panorama windows of Restaurant Sixtus ensure a bright, welcoming atmosphere while boasting an excellent view of Fænø Sund. Our menus are jam-packed with exciting culinary delights made from quality raw ingredi
Hotel sixtus is located right at the sea and has a very nice decor and ambiance. While the hotel is mostly catering conferences, it still makes for a wonderful relaxing couple or family stay. The food is great, the staff extremely friendly and middelfart is a nice start for several day trips. Kolding and odense are recommended. But if you just want to sit with a book overlooking the sea enjoying tea or coffee with homebaked pie, this is definitely your place as well. Do ask for a room with sea view !

Guide Michelin 2019 * White Guide Denmark 2016: International Master Class, 36/81 White Guide Nordic 2017/2018: 36/84 Ti Trin Ned is a gastronomic experience from a kitchen which is not pure Nordic, French, Mediterranian, Molecular nor Fusion â but a per
Went here this week. Asked about if they for an appertif, but they seemed not ready for that. Very unusual as all the Michelin restaurants we have eaten at offer this. Had the five course menu which nearly took five hoursto complete. It took over one hour to get our first course which was pretty good. Then waited another hour for the second course a monk fish which was tough and not cooked right. Then we waited another 40 minutes for some type of weird rootbeet tartar which I felt tasted bitter and very strange. During these waits we sat with empty wine glasses, and empty plates of bread and no attention at all from the staff. Finally we told Mette how unimpressed we were. She was sorry to hear that but not apology at all, and after that we received a very cold service. I did not understand the pork tenderloin dish at all, a very disappointing dish. The desert was also disappointing and visually It was not very appealing, what was that weird brown color sauce doing on the plate. After we complained the service did speed up a little bit. I most say we expected more with their recent success, Not much has changed since we ate there last time. They seemed overwhelmed with a full house, and it appears the kitchen can not keep up. Having one person pour the wine is not enough, she can hardly keep up with all tables booked. Plates were not removed fast enough and the noise level in the restaurant is very loud. I must say the only highlight was the male waiter who was the only person who smiled and had an upbeat personality. We are also used to having the chef mix with the guests but none of that here. So in summary a huge disappointment, when you spend this type of money you expect to have a fun time, not feeling stressed and not being paid attention/pampered to is not accepted. We will not be returning again.

We got our dinner in the on site restaurant "Den Hvide Dame" - The 5 course menu was fantastic and well presented and served (Camilla?). Everything on our table were perfect. It is a pitty that the lonely server had so much to do that she could not spare time to clean tables were guests already have finished - This leaves the overall impression with some shortfalls and is not welcomming possible walk-in guests !This dinner were taken with the restuarants wine selction wine-menu - Which were well composed to the courses provided.Dear Lars, Thank you very much for your fine review of our restaurant. We are pleased to hear that you had a great experience and enjoyed your dinner. We always strive to make our guest comfortable and to maintain a welcoming atmosphere in the restaurant. Therefore, we are sorry to hear that our staff have been too busy to clean the tables that day. We will make sure that our waitress, Camilla, gets your complementary comments.

Exceptionel danish lunch and dinner available daily in the mainstreet between 12.00 and 15.00 for lunch and 17.30 to 21.00 for dinner.
This restaurant dates partially back to 1584 and have a classical danish "kro" interior. We had lunch in the garden, good herring "smørrebrød" (open sandwiches) and a beer.

We had dinner at Papa's and liked everything we had. We had clam chowder soup, mixed salad, one pizza and one pasta. We had sparklimg mineral water as drinks. All were very delicious especially the pizza ( green pizza from the special pizzas section) . The portions are quite big so you may wamt to share the main dish if you have entrees. Food is very expensive in Danmark , so this place seemed to have reasonable prices.

Went for lunch and had the platter with 5 specialities. All homemade, fresh ingredients. In addition - the view over Fænøsund is very nice. Definitely worth a visit.

Definition of a burger can be difficult depending on where you are. I believe that different countries have their own opinion how a burger must taste. If this burger was the role model in Denmark then I will become vegetarian. The bread was extremely large and of a different kind than normal. The patty was regular minced meat instead of prime rib and fried in oil too long time so it was hard hard to eat. But even worse was the onion fried in butter drenching the whole burger in fat. And a lot of thousand island dressing all over. The fries was better. All in all, if you like quantity instead of quality and fatsoaked overcooked minced meat, this is for you. The staff was very friendly and nice and running like rabbits to help all customers. They will have 5 star's the burger 1 so average is 3
