I had read about El Trasiego and therefore popped in on our first night in Merida at the end of evening of smapling various tapas bars. we only had one dish and some wine but it was apparent from the quality of the meatballs in mushroom sauce that thsi was one for a return visit. We came back the next night and sampled a couple of dishes the outstanding one being the prawns in filo pastry witha mango curry sauce. We had noticed these the previous night and they lived up to our expectations. The bar is very modern and popular, definitely one to be recommended.

Writing this review before seeing previously posted ones; we thought this was a great place to eat in Merida - after all the pork is from their own local acorn-fed (Bellota) animals - and on a Sunday late September it was ultimately completely full of local families (so what does that tell you ?) and luckily being Brits we arrived early relatively speaking and got a table. So, we had brandade croquettes, snails, and the local pork - one dish cheeks braised in wine and the other lomo in almond sauce. Plus some very decent wine from the Raposo region. We ordered half potions and still had to ask for a doggie bag. It was ridiculously good value. Go here rather than the touristy places up by the theatre.

Tapa's bar, home-made meals with the best natural products.
Stayed in Merida for 5 nights and had dinner here twice. Found this place via trip advisor reviews which did this place justice. First night tried a few of the tapas / smaller items none of which i could fault, the second night had steak which was cooked to perfection. Get in early to make sure you get a table as both nights there were people waiting at the bar and outside.

A de Arco Restaurant is located in charming, historic city of Mérida. The restaurant lies on a World Heritage monument: Arco de Trajano. From its unique terrace, visitors can enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind view of the city. The restaurant's chef, Enrique FrÃ
Following the advice of the receptionist at the Deluxe Hotel, we visited for a light meal during the early evening and it was simply fabulous. As always, we took a table outside to enjoy the fresh air and the view of the iconic Trojan arch (thus the name of this restaurant) but the dining room inside is modern and, well, way cool. The restroom was even more modern â and spotless. The tapas are in the âto die forâ range but not as expensive as you might expect, and De Arco features red and white wine from an exclusive supplier. Meaning you either taste this wine here or you go find the vineyard. Either way, the wine is amazing. Nacho, our waiter had no hesitation offering us a taste of both; he clearly loves his job and his customers. Next time weâre in Merida, weâll go back!

We had nicely presented tapas and yummy filled cannelloni at this gem that we really recommended vegetarians and vegans to visit. The atmosphere was great and the place was very busy, so we were happy we booked in advance. We enjoyed the hospitality and the friendly staff. We really felt we had value for money and would have loved to revisit this establishment.

Our whole experience was fantastic. The decor reflects in a modern way the Roam history of Merida. The service through could not be bettered. In traditional British style we arrived long before the kitchen staff (that is 7 pm) so had to sit and chat and consume local red wine until it was time to eat. When the food did arrive it was everything we had hoped. The corvina (what is the English name of this fish) and mussel ceviche starter was delicious. For mains my wife had cod with ratatouille. The cod was salt cod but of a different quality that you see in the supermarkets of southern Spain and Portugal. She loved it.My pork shoulder steak with a mixed veg stir fry was equally fresh and tasty. These plus a bottle of red come to 53 euro.Hope to be back to expand my limited knowledge of Roman Merida and when this happens we will eat at La Tahona.

We had a superb meal here with friends, friendly staff and a menu with a reasonable choice! I choose the fillet steak, it was cooked to pink perfection!! It's a shame it was almost empty because this place should be full !!
