O Restaurante Miradouro do Castelo foi fundado em 1989, sendo o primeiro restaurante de Castro Laboreiro que rapidamente se transformou numa referência gastronómica da região, principalmente devido à aposta nos produtos regionais na confecção da sua ement
Both the "posta barosa" and the codfish were divine. Huge portions and tender meat. The restaurant prepares typical food and has a beautiful view of the mountains and "castle". The path to reach it is long but worth it if you plan to visit the "senhora da peneda" sanctuary as its on its way. The space is quite big so i doubt you need to reserve, you might need to reserve some of the house specialties as they run out (e.g., "leitao" and "cabrito"). Highly recommended!

If you wish to try really typical Portuguese food, you can find it here. This place is an authentic tavern. The menu is simple and short with only 3-4 plates per day. One portion is suitable for two people. For us the price of 10⬠per person included house wine, main dish and dessert. If you decide to come here, be early as it gets filled fast and there's sometimes a queue.

We were recommended Dy Michelys by a local however the pizzas were baked in an oven, not a wood fired oven. They were ok, but really nothing special. The waiters were very nice and service was good.

This town is quite far from the main Portuguese cities but the surrounding landscape is worth the trip. Also the food served in this restaurant is worth the trip. Although more expensive than the most Portuguese northern restaurants, the quality of the products served are a good justification for the prices. Enjoy!
A small and for sure one of the best restaurants in Melgaco. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly and professional. There is a good wine choice from all over the country including some not very obvious Alvarinhos. Prices are very reasonable. I recommend.Hello,Thank you vrry much for tour visita and evaluation.Os very important for us.Thanks from all out tem.Best regards,Restaurante Tasquinha de Melgaço

Visited today 19th August 2017. Mini Zip is opposite my view picture! Ordered pork chop and small caraf of local vino, Not vinho verde tinto as this wine we have found has a fizz to the tongue, looked this up on internet and is common to this area afraid we do not like it at all. So ordered normal wine. The pork chop arrived wow one plate was enough for the two of us as each plate had two very large pork chops on it. We struggled but only managed to eat half the meal, but it was very tasty well seasoned with a little garlic. The meal was served up with French fries, rice, and salad with olives, very good value for money.

Small family run restaurant that requires a reservation although in our case, apparently as is normal, that was turning up and being told when we could come back, luckily only a twenty minute wait.Unassuming first floor restaurant in a building constructed in local stone and decorated in typical local style.Basically there are two people running the place, one cooks and the other serves. Service was first class not wanting in any way at all and the food was excellent. Everything we had tasted sublime, wonderfully prepared and presented. Menu is not expansive, local dishes with a section of meat that was melt in your mouth and fish that was equally good. There are croquettas from the house to munch on while choosing dishes. The plan was for three of us to have soup to start and I would have the Cabeça Fumada (smoked pigs head) which was truly divine, even my wife who will try a taste of most food but normally draws a line at this type of dish, tucked in. Then for me a selection of cheeses and some local ham, with two sharing the steak on the bone and one having the cod, with some salad to share. What happened was we all shared the pigs head, cheese and hams as starters and then tucked into the meat and fish. All washed down with jugs of local green wine and accompanied by heaps of local bread.A truly memorable experience that left us all full and having enjoyed excellent food in a wonderful atmosphere at a price that represented terrific value.

We came for a family horse riding weekend in the beginning in October. We knew Adega Sabino and Xafarix in Melgaço. They are very good. But they were closed. So we had to seek for alternatives. In fact, fortunately, because we found TASQUINHA DA PORTELA.Excellent food, warm hosting by the owner. Strongly recommend to come and try.Probably the best around Melgaço. Antonio Vieira da Silva

Restaurant with fine critics in the media (newspapers, magazines and internet sites) High quality Regional cuisine 3 catering halls (main hall, events hall and terrace - capacity 70 Good cellar Great location (Historic town center) ! Portugal starts here.
This seems to be a place with a major reputation, lots of guests from nearby Spain. The food was good and over abundant. The area specializes in meat and ours was particularly tasty.Slightly overpriced for the area.
