Cocottes & Bouchons is at the same time: - a wine merchant, - A wine bar offering a beautiful selection of wines by the glass (for the most part organic and biodynamic), but it is also a "bistronomique" restaurant (A mix of Gastronomic and french traditio
Despite not having a reservation we were seated quickly (it was fairly early in the evening). The waitress/house manager spoke excellent English and could explain everything on the menu. She recommended an excellent wine. I had the tomato risotto, which was cooked perfectly. Expensive yes, but the price felt justified for the quality and the service.

With only one waiter who speaks English a bit, this is remarkably welcoming to a family of rosbifs on tour.A very nice simple menu, and very well priced.Nobody tries to sell you anything you don't want, but the suggestions du jour for drinks and food are well worth listening to.Obviously well liked by a cracking local crowd who fill the place with noise and enjoyment.Well worth a go if you find you can't be bothered with the arrogant waiters in town.

The starters were really good - I thoroughly enjoyed the pate - delicious, really generous portions and great bread. The deserts too - I scraped the soufflé dish clean. The staff were charming. The wine was great and everything was reasonably priced. But......and I wanted to love this place so I'm sorry about the but......but, when I called to book, the night before, they said they only had a table at 7. I said that was a bit early for us but ok, if that really is the only time they can squeeze us in, we'll take it. We arrived at 7 to a completely empty restaurant so obviously there was no atmosphere whatsoever. It filled up a bit after a while but it was only ever half full at it's busiest so why the insistence on the 7 o'clock reservation? Then the mains. I ordered the oxtail on the waiter's recommendation that it is the house speciality. The boyfriend ordered the steak au poivre. Loved the theatre of them making the sauce at the table on a burner but by the time they'd done it my oxtail was tepid. He cut into the steak and it was medium to well done rather than the rare he had asked for. We were going to go with it regardless but when the waiter came over to ask how everything was, we said, to be honest the steak is really over cooked. They took it away immediately which is great but it meant that I ate my lukewarm, average oxtail alone and left most of it and then he ate his steak alone. If a main is sent back, they really should take both mains away or at least keep the other warm. They should have come over, apologised and offered us some more wine while we waited. By the time the second steak arrived 15 minutes later and we had to go through the sauce rigmarole again.....it was pretty much a wash out. The second steak was good though. So, lovely, friendly staff but really good customer service was lacking. Shame really because it wouldn't have taken much to turn things around but we are unlikely to go back.

We have just returned back to our apartment having enjoyed a lovely evening at this very French restaurant. We booked it based on the trip advisor reviews and were not disappointed. The whole experience was very French from the excellent food, friendly service(the menu needed to be translated) and best wine I have ever had.Have taken the name to see if I can buy it in the UK.Its not a cheap meal 90 for 3 courses for 2 of us and 3 glasses of wine but definitely not tourist mass produced. The only negative thing is the locatìon on the main through road just before the new bridge over the river but once inside you don't notice. It is a 45 min walk from the centre of the city but we caught a tram back. The restaurant is a cosy setting and was busy with locals which is always a good sign.Would highly recommend for a genuine home cooked French meal a great end to our 3 days in Bordeaux.Hi there. We are absolutely thrilled that you liked your meal and took some time to share it with the world ^^Hoping to see you again...

Brasserie d'inspiration Parisienne ouverte tous les jours. Authentique Cuisine Française. Grand choix de Vins.
Visited this lovely french restaurant during our rain soaked weekend in Bordeaux. A welcoming, nicely decorated restaurant with friendly staff. The food was delicious and plentiful a nice selection of local wine that the staff seem very proud about. Donât fall for the trick that the waitress tries to pull, when she first comes to the table she makes out that she doesnât speak much English, she can speak English no problem and was knowledgeable and helpful during our meal. We were surprised how reasonable the bill was after our evening spent here.

What a beautiful dining experience! From being welcomed despite no reservation (& with a glass of sweet wine on the house!), to the attentive service, to the homely but fine dining scale food (that squid dish..!), and the friendly generosity of the host. Would go back again and again.Go. A must.

The service and the food is outstanding. This isn't a trendy restaurant but price value very good.A lot of people who works nearby go there.Thats a very good sign.He is still the guy who works with his hart.

We loved this restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone, whether vegetarian or not. In my opinion, the food is just as good or better than the fine dining vegetarian options in Paris. The menu we had was a large platter sporting an elegant display of about eight different diverse and contrasting small portion dishes, all of which were excellent. Nice, small selection of wines available from which I really enjoyed the Bergerac by-the-glass that was on offer.

The stables of a château , a glass and concrete cube , a view of the bridge of Aquitaine , the feeling of being in the countryside ... An original setting for an unusual cuisine: Vivien Durand knows how forget his great technique to reveal all his inspira
This restaurant is a one star Michelin place, and therefore serves good food, offers good service (and is expensive) . It lived up to the expectationIn the evening they just offer their two tasting menus, one of 5 courses and one of eight courses. We chose the 5 course menu and found even that was almost more than we could eat.The setting is breath-taking - but you do need to have a table in the half of the restaurant with the picture windows. Ask to be seated there when you reserve. We had a view over the château, and as night fell, the château was floodlitThe staff are very good, friendly and polite, without being over friendly nor obsequious.. Personally I found their uniform a bit odd, the men in jeans and white trainers, and the girls in red dresses and white trainersThe menu changes weekly, so you are unlikely to have what we had, but take it from me, the flavour, quality and presentation of the food is outstanding.. We had a bottle of wine , rather than the selection of different wines you can have with each course. For a Michelin star restaurant, the wines are reasonably pricedIt was a bit difficult to find, my GPS did not have the street given in their address. I put in a neighbouring street, and that got me to close enough, where we were able to pick up the street location signs for it. Once you get to it, there is ample parking, and you just walk into the château via the marked signsAll in all a wonderful evening
