I was rather surprised when one of my friends opted to meet up for lunch at the Le Vicariat in Loches. I had eaten there before and not been satisfied. There were seven of us for lunch that day. We had hoped to be able to eat outside, but when the friend that made the reservation arrived, she decided that the area outside looked untidy and uncared for. The fallen leaves had not been cleared away from the ground or the table tops; and it was true that the exterior dining area looked rather neglected. The interior didnât seem all that welcoming either. It was sombre and gloomy with its heavy, dark furniture. There were also two dogs running around. I like domesticated animals and the spaniels were very sweet, but I feel strongly that dogs should not be allowed into a restaurant. For me, dogs should be kept well away from the preparation of food. We were all given menus and selected something from the limited menu. When it came to ordering, it transpired that everybody wanted the same thing â a parcel of cod with vegetables. There was no apology from the young lady that was waiting, just a statement that there was only one fish left. We could not believe it, as we were amongst the first customers that day, and the restaurant had already run out of fish. We informed the waitress that she had a big problem, as none of us would eat the meat dishes that were offered on the menu. There was still no apology. In the end, some settled for pancakes with goatsâ cheese on a salad base and a friend and I selected a fish terrine (which was a starter) and a selection of cooked vegetables. A friend, who chose the pancake, said that it was barely edible and there was far too much lettuce. As for the mackerel terrine, it tasted fairly strongly of vinegar, indicating that the mackerel was probably out of a tin. The terrine was chilled. The vegetables were cooked, but barely warm. Unfortunately, the vegetables (tomato, courgette, carrot and aubergine) were grossly overcooked. Some were so overcooked that I couldnât even consider eating them. Disaster!!We all chose desserts, mainly, I think because we were still hungry. They were adequate. I ate crème brulee. It was only OK. Everybody in the group was very disappointed by the lunch. We all felt that it would be the last time that we would eat at Le Vicariat.

We were attracted to this restaurant as the terrace was full and everyone looked happy, there was a buzz about the place. The waitress was helpful and friendly and she took her time advising us on local specialities in spite of being very busy. There is a lot of choice and you can have a snack or a meal, no pressure and the prices are very reasonable. Our drinks were chilled and our meal was delicious. A great place.

A good pizza restaurant with some interesting choices. There are 2 sizes and the waitress suggested the smaller one unless you were very hungry. Also excellent salade nicoise. The outdoor seating is on two streets: we didn't see inside. Friendly efficient staff. People were coming in later than many French restaurants.

Since nearly one century, the restaurant La Gerbe d'Or is a place of familiar appointment for lots of Lochois. The "Tuffeau" breathes the perfumes of the seasons, the large fireplace-dreams of the coloured scents of the aromas, with sweet and savoury spic
We stopped by after the busy Wednesday market. They were turning people away so I was glad to have made a reservation earlier that morning. Wednesday is hopping in Loche due to the market. The prix fixe menu of 14.50 euro per person was delicious and exceptional value. It includes a good glass of wine. Just slightly away from the busy tourist restaurants, this spot is clearly popular with locals and a real find. I shall be going back this Wednesday!

Nice informal restaurant where one can dine outside in a courtyard - pleasant enough but would benefit from a little decoration eg with plants as seems a little utilitarian. Prompt and efficient service. Food standard French fare but certainly pretty good. French goats cheese platter was a bit disappointing - cheese too cold and not that interesting.

You should go here for the cute terrace. Dine under a tree and enjoy simple but well made food. We loved the ravioli (homemade) with walnut sauce. Our meat was (escaloppe) was good, the fennel that came with it delicious. The local red wine was nithing special, but ok. Pana cotta as dessert was a perfect finishPlace worthwhile visiting

Stopped here as nowhere else was open and really should have asked for a menu. Owner was a chain smoker behind us and asked if we liked red or white and then poured us 4 large glasses of wine. Even though it was nice it cost us â¬31.50 so bewareThank you very much for your advice. 31,60 euros for a full bottle of our fabuleux vin de garde de Loire,4 large glasses of 18 cl each ,served with some biscuits at 23h30 pm in a select place, is à normal price when we are looking for excellent quality. ..You take a seat without asking if you can or not, impolite way to run on our very nice terrasse in the oldest beatiful historical street of loches. The menu is at disposition on the main door. We are only pleased to receive people that are happy to visit our place not because everything is closed in the city !!!I regret very much to accept you. I was closed and having a rest with some friends as our cellar shop is open everyday from 11 am until 11 pm, waiting for one hour that you go..cordialement Serge LESNIEWSKI

This young couple deserve every success. Innovative menu. wonderfully cooked and presented, menu changes weekly, fantastic value.Matthieu was born to be front of house , and Marie works her magic in the Kitchen. If you want large portions of average food give P'tit Restau a miss. If you want quality food give it a try
