Reviews on European food in Kunming, Yunnan, China. Kunming is the capital and largest city of Yunnan province in southwest China. Known as Yunnan-Fu until the 1920s, today it is a prefecture-level city and the political, economic, communications and cultural centre of the province as well as the seat of the provincial government. Kunming is also called the Spring city due to its weather. The headquarters of many of Yunnan's large businesses are in Kunming. It was important during World War II as a Chinese military center, American air base, and transport terminus for the Burma Road. Located in the middle of the Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau, Kunming is located at an altitude of 1,900 metres (6,234 feet) above sea level and at a latitude just north of the Tropic of Cancer. Kunming has as of 2014 a population of 6,626,000 with an urban population of 4,575,000, and is located at the northern edge of the large Lake Dian, surrounded by temples and lake-and-limestone hill landscapes.

We viseted the café several times, and each time we were blown away by the incredebly friendly staff and the delicious food. The owner did everything he could to make the visit an amazing experience including giving us free desserts and giving us mosquito spray. I would most definitely come back! If you need a break from chinese food this is the go to place.
We welcome you to come and relax in our home away from home at Prague Cafe, Beichen. Since 1999 we have been serving awesome coffee and a delicious western menu in a relaxed and friendly environment. Whether you are looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner or
This place has the most authentic flat white Iâve had in China, so if you like your coffee I would highly recommend a visit. The space itself is very modern and comfortable. I can imagine spending a lazy afternoon here doing some work or meeting friends. They serve western food at very reasonable prices. We would recommend the burger!
for a newly open restaurant it is hard to understand that almost all ordered beer was not available, same as several dishes.Food did not taste german.

This restaurant can be tough to find but its worth the effort. Its located down a small residential alley near to the tourist area. They have a limited menu but all the food and drink looked great. My wife and I spent a lazy morning here chatting to two friendly English teachers. It was a very welcome break from the chilly weather of Kunming in April. The staff member that brought out our lovely food and drinks spoke the best English and was also very friendly. Highly recommended.

You'd expect a place that bills itself as French to serve decent wine and some standard French dishes e.g. steak frites. But this seems to be yet another foreign-owned burger and pizza joint. (They do have at least one French dish to be fair - a croque-monsieur - which is a kind of upmarket toasty). The staff seem distracted and inattentive. The cafe gets quite smoky and doesn't have a no smoking area, despite being on two floors.

The food ( all we ordered) was simply great. Looking at the wine carte it is surprisingly âcheapâ ( for what it is)(we had a louis jadot / chardonnay for less than 400 rmb). At the end come the service : extremely difficult but this is most probably due to language. Our chinese is close to zero while the only English speaker staff has a terrible english ( not able to tell us what is in the seafood platter and consequently us not being able to order it ...). I guess (hope) for Chinese clients it is easier. Still very helpful ( trying their best). They called us a taxi at the end which was very helpful.

Wildfire features classic steak and other international favourites prepared to absolute perfection. The restaurant further offers selection of fine wines from around the world.
This restaurant should be much higher on the list in Kunming. My Daughter and I shared an Angus fillet which was fantastically cooked. My wife had a couple of starters, ribs in a spicy sauce and then macaroni cheese (with some truffle) both of which were great, so all in all, thoroughly satisfied. A day lateralso had a beautiful Caesar salad as a a quick bite. Cynthia and Lisa served us extremely well. Thank you.
