We were exhausted from a full day of driving in the pouring rain and we did not want to go out again. View from restaurant was beautiful. However, the cheapest item on the menu was a burger and fries for 3000 ISK/ approx $24 USD. Yikes!
The restaurant at Fosshotel Núpar offers comfortable and elegant surroundings with a focus on local ingredients in its cuisine.
The restaurant have a very nice view and not that much competition out in the lava fields but I'd say we were quite disapointed with the food. We had stayed at the Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon the night before and though the prices there was a 1000 ISK higher it's the best lamb and pork we've ever had! But here at Fosshotel Nupar the food was bland, the breakfast as well. I'd still recommend the place but if you can stop and eat elsewhere that could be more worth while.

We enjoyed our food here. The Fish Stew, not really a stew more like a casserole or bake, was the best we had while in Iceland. The place is too cute, right near a waterfall and the prices were normal for Iceland dining. We'd recommend this place over the diner right off the ring road for sure.

The bistro takes its name from the year LakagÃgar erupted and created the vast lava field next to the hotel. Bistro 1783 offers a delicious home-style dinner in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. The dishes vary depending on the season, but you will alwa
We arrived at Magma Hotel this afternoon, after a long 5-hour drive from west Iceland. I had read that reservations were needed at this restaurant (yes! make them in advance!) and we made them via email. Upon arrival, and observing the small restaurant space, I was a little concerned. Happy to say that the meal was excellent. Selection is small--we designated either fish (Arctic char) or lamb. I chose the char, my husband chose the lamb. The plates were served family style, and were brought out with nicely roasted fresh vegetables, roasted potatoes, along with a great salad on the plate. Everything was beautifully prepared. The char was moist, and obviously fresh. The lamb was tender and nicely seasoned, cooked medium rare. The wine list is not extensive, but we found a nice Chilean cab. We had a brownie cake with berries and whipped cream for dessert. Truth--we are food snobs, and we judge according to region, availability and freshness. We were really pleasantly surprised to find the food perfectly prepared and seasoned; everything was fresh and not over-done. Plus, it was beautiful on the plate (always a good thing!) We also had great conversations with fellow travelers, as well as with the chef. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

We enjoyed a pleasant dinner at this cafe, which features Icelandic specialities plus other international dishes (pizzas, burgers, etc). It was quite busy during our visit (mostly tourists ate here), and the helpful staff were friendly and patient while serving the customers. If youâre seeking a nice meal and good ambiance in this small village, try this restaurant... enjoy!
