4 of us had lunch here yesterday and I am not normally a reviewer, but feel I have to on this occasion! Everything was simply fabulous from the service, wine and the superb food. The chef certainly delivers on both flavour and presentation and we loved everything on our plates. We have now booked to go again next month. Thanks to a great team.

The Woodspeen restaurant is set in the beautiful west Berkshire countryside near Newbury. We serve seasonal food, sourced locally wherever possible, and in some cases grown by us, right here in our gardens. With friendly service, exceptional food, stylish
Although more expensive than your average restaurant the place is worth a visit. Beautiful & tasty food, great atmosphere, quiet location and very friendly staff. It was my husbands birthday and he enjoyed it immensely. Would go again maybe its my husbands turn next time .....

Set at the foot of the North Wessex Downs, an area of outstanding natural beauty, in the picturesque village of Ham, Wiltshire, we serve locally sourced, seasonal food in a relaxed and welcoming setting. You will feel at home in the Crown & Anchorâs homel
We went for dinner on my birthday as it had come well recommended by 2/3 different friends.Beautiful pub and decor and itâs obviously been done to a great finish. Drinks at the bar were great and the staff very friendly and great service. Pub wasnât very busy at all but mid week so fair enough. Just really average food sadly â¹ï¸ slightly bland and lacking good seasoning. Not great value.Really disappointed as it had come highly recommended Thank you very much for your feedback. All feedback is appreciated and helps us to improve all the time, we take great pride in the service and menu we offer.I have noted your comments and discussed this with our Head Chef. Please accept our apologies that we did note meet your expectations on this occasion. We hope to welcome you back to the Crown & Anchor in the near future.

Have visited this restaurant many times over the years, but I was disappointed this time and did not enjoy the experience as much as previously. We visited with friends all of whom were having the matched wines. Husband and I chose not to, and were offered drinks as soon as we sat down. Everyone else was not offered a drink and had to wait until their 3rd course which had paired wines. Extraordinary. I had champagne, but the glasses were a miserly 100 ml. Everyone knows that a 750 ml bottle of champagne yields 6 glasses at 125 ml, so to pour only 100 ml and charge £15 per glass is very mean. We were served the bread with a bit of hummus, but no plates. The bread was very oily (a focaccia I think). The rest of the food, as usual, was absolutely fantastic. But be under no illusion about the cheese course: when the menu says 'tasting of British cheeses' you cannot actually choose the cheese you have. I don't like soft cheeses. The waitress told me there were no hard cheeses, only soft ones, and one blue cheese. So I ended up with one 'blue' cheese but it was very mild and not a Roquefort/Stilton/St Augur. The final course, treacle & ginger with honey truffles included a nice sorbet and macaroon but the treacle sponge was far too heavy and cloying. It was inconsistent with the rest of the meal and most of us did not enjoy it. Our bill was nearly £300 for 2, without tip/service charge, and when I'm paying that sort of money I rather expect perfection. This was lacking on the night in question, I am sorry to say. I've given only 3 stars because I can't say it was very good. There is a reason this restaurant has lost its Michelin star.Thank you LauranWe have now revised your complaints, once again thank you for your comments Some of your points as you are aware and not quite the truth are they? We clearly state that we pour our aged Louis Roederer Champagne in 100ml glasses, you seemed quite happy as you had three glasses. Your guests declined champagne as they were having the 6 matched wines with their menu, all served in 100ml measures besides the dessert wine which is served as 50ml. Their first wine was served with the first starter, Diver Caught Orkney Scallop, we do not match wines to the amuse Bouche as this would take consumption to over one bottle 750ml per person. You were served bread on a sharing plate with three dips, humus as you say but also cods roe and butter bean with truffles. The bread is made twice a day and on Saturday it was Focaccio, each loaf is made with 250ml of extra virgin olive oil. We offer 5 cheeses on the "tasting of British Cheeses" from a choice of at least 9, we do not have hard such as Cheddar, but do offer semi hard such as Keltic Gold, in 20 years of running the restaurant we are rarely asked for hard cheeses as most guests prefer, soft , cured or semi hard. You declined all cheeses except the blue, preferring the more firm of two choices, Two Hoots. You listed 3 French Cheeses, we don't serve French Cheeses on our "tasting of British Cheeses" You were charged just for this portion not for a tasting plate. I note your comment on the treacle tart, and will certainly adjust this, if it needs to beYour bill at £300 for two although as you say it did not include tip/Services4tourism it did include the 8 beers your husband had, your numerous glasses of champagne and your port ..... Michelin rate on food only not wine measures or hard cheeses we serve.

A long standing coaching inn looking forward with traditions from the past, we look to do good food cooked well. we cook dishes from our life and most will tell a story.
Myself and my partner visited here the initial thought was just wow itâs a lovely building very nice inside and out! Greeted by very friendly staff. We chose to sit outside and we werenât disappointed the garden was beautiful and well set out with light music in the background. We had read a few reviews before about portion sizes but went ahead anyway and true to others words they were huge. My partner had a cheese and mushroom roll and I went for the chicken goujons which my partner had to help me finish. Onto the main my partner had a wonderful steak which he thoroughly enjoyed, I had the Thai chicken burger and wow it was amazing it looked and tasted fantastic! Pudding was a do we or donât we as we were quite full by this point. Other diners were having pudding and my partner said I donât care how full we are we have to have a pudding! He had a cheesecake and I had Eton mess and they were equally as lovely as the rest of the meal.

Popped in 2.30pm on a Sunday no booking and pleasant change asked the young barmen if we could eat and no problem and even made some recommendations then another chap said we could eat in the restaurant if we wanted and a tab was promptly set up and led to the table , next thing warm bread and butter arrived . Both opted for the roast , i had beef (rare and very testy) and the wife had chicken (very nice) loads of veg and good potatoes , very tasty gravy and overall a very good quality Sunday Roast even if a bit pricey but certainly worth the extra money. Paid our tab and quick chat with the barmen then off very happy.

Indulge in the finest cuisine within the beautiful setting of Blandy's Bar and Bistro at Inglewood House. At Blandy's, our Head Chef showcases the highest quality seasonal and local ingredients, freshly prepared and treated with the respect they deserve.
Perhaps the good folks of Hungerford, Newbury and round about have yet to hear about Blandys - four diners on a Saturday night would normally be a sign of a restaurant's quality but that is not the case at Blandys. Perhaps it is the narrow roads that put the local's off. or the fact it is located in an a retirement village. In any case, Blandys is very good. The bar and restaurant are not signposted from outside what is an impressive building, but once you find it, then what a quality establishment this is. The food matches - an excellent, tailored caesar salad and crab with langoustine aranciins were superb. A fillet steak cooked to perfection and a decent sole dish were very good. Wines are reasonably priced and service is enthusiastic if lacking a little polish. A great find but a shame it lacks atmosphere thanks to so few guests.
