Serendipity! We were visiting a lighting supplier on the Newtownards Road when the assistant overheard us talking about a caffeine fix. She immediately recommended a cafe opposite and gave us two vouchers for free coffee! This cafe, The Lamppost, was completely new to both of us and seems to have sprung up from nowhere. Now, East Belfast in general and the Newtownards Road in particular, has always had a very different, but good culture, from other parts of the city. Ballyhackamore has developed into an area know for its culinary delights and this has now spread city-wards to the Arches area. The cafe itself, is completely different - other reviewers use terms like shabby chic and bohemian- I would not dare vary from this other than to add that the backcloth to the design lies fairly and squarely with the legacy of CS Lewis. Culture amongst the croissants! I understand that the Owners Mother in Law was instrumental in the design stage!Foodwise, we had our free coffee which was first class along with scones, jam and cream. Low cal- probably not. Delicious- undoubtedly. The overall menu was excellent and the staff were superb and helpful. The cafe is a most desirable addition to East Belfast and a visit is highly recommended. Will we be back - you bet. At the risk of offending some people, I do have concerns with "pet friendly" establishments. This is my only gripe otherwise The Lamppost would have been awarded my 5 star rating.

4 of us had booked for a pre Xmas get together and chose the Culloden. Weâd booked for 8pm and met up at 7.45 in the bar. After about 10 mins we eventually caught the eye of a waiter and ordered drinks.. 10 mins later they appeared along with menus. At 8.30 we again attracted a waiter and said weâre ready to order.. at 9pm we were ushered into the restaurant and the whole evening followed that pattern. We eventually had dessert served by the manager at around 10.45. Food? Iâd say average at best, the plates were hot, food barely warm. Portions were minuscule. My roast duck breast consisted of 2 half inch slices and that was it.. prawn starter was 3 prawns. That being said, the surroundings are plush and the waiters are all dressed immaculately, but if youâre hungry Iâd suggest you go elsewhere.

Olivers Restaurant is a casual dining restaurant at the heart of the community here in Ballyhackamore, East Belfast. Easily accessible via the G1 Glider from the centre of the city.
My husband and I visited Oliver's for a last minute Saturday night dinner. Could not fault any of our experience, the food was delicious and great variety on the menu. I also have to specifically mention that the staff were brilliant. We will definitely be back.

Modern interpretations of traditional breakfast dishes. We loved it. The kids didn't. I guess, it's not everybody's taste, but if you love to taste new things, go there.

We went as a family group to celebrate a birthday. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The food was very tasty and highly recommend their steaks. They offer local ales and beers as well as a varied wine list. They are baby friendly too. The restaurant is up a flight of stairs and unsure whether there is a lift etc for people with mobility issues.

Visited Noble today for the first time with family - exceptional from start to finish. Great atmosphere, lovely decor - quirky staircase with little seats and staff were both friendly and helpful. Food was delicious - excellent Sunday Lunch. The Chicken Liver Parfait was smooth and tasty, excellent Butternut Squash soup and that was just for starters. We had Chicken, Beef and Lamb for mains - all delicious and served with tasty vegetables. Desserts didnât disappoint either. Well worth a visit !

I had lunch with family here and we were looking for a fry. The waitress was accommodating and said the chef could customise their âfry in a bapâ for us. I had the avocado, poached egg on toast and it was very small. I left still hungry and it didnât have roasted tomatoes as other images showed. The poached egg was hard and disappointing as was the overcooked single slice of bacon which cost and additional £1. I shouldnât have bothered as it was tasteless. The coffee tasted nice, however was very small.I am sorry that you left less than fully satisifed with our food offering. The coffees only come in one size (8oz), which is the standard for a specialty coffee shop. However, I would love if you could email me with the time and date that you ate with us so I can investigate the matter of the missing item and the poor quality food. Thanks
