Very nice interior, with some hidden corners on 2 levels. Good choice of drinks. At weekends live music. Great atmosphere.

Stopped in here on Friday lunchtime after a bracing walk around the military defences. Glad we did. There's nothing fancy about the food, it's just well-prepared and there's plenty of it! Classic lunch dishes such as uitsmijters (my choice as usual) or carpaccio salad on brown bread for my partner. A couple of glasses of wine each, coffee and on our way again...The building is impressive (just about full when we were there, so don't be surprised if you can't get a seat just when you want one), the service was professional and extremely friendly. Plain and unpretentious, but really enjoyable.

We were welcomed in Dutch but the staff immediately translated once they learnt we are English. The recommended dishes were superb. Ribs were well up to standard, my wife had fresh venison - cooked perfectly. The wine was of a good standard but the only draught beer was Heineken. Bottled ales were available too though.Service is not fast - 'quality takes time'! But the atmosphere was so relaxed that we just chatted and enjoyed the surroundings. This is a small restaurant so I guess it needs booking in busy periods. They have bread freshly baked with a house speciality surprise twist in it - best bread we've had for ages. We wondered why they were trying so hard to get us to try it but soon realised once we had broken into it.Great staff, good fresh food - even vegetables, which we find is not so usual in Holland.

A large party of Aussies and locals, we dined here because we wanted a "special night" with our extended Dutch family. We were not disappointed. Really great Italian food, great ambient and service, and a very ni e aelection of wines. Everyone agreed that it was a top class evening. Definitely recommended for a quality evening.

Went for dinner here on a special deal, for which we got the special menu; choices were varied enough, but no drinks prices were mentioned (I so dislike that "oversight")Staff was pleasant enough, and the food was OK but nothing spectaculair. Won't be in a rush to get back there.

The restaurant was not full when we arrived, but people were already getting annoyed at the wait to even see a menu. The waitress they eventually managed to attract was bad tempered and had attitude, but reluctanctly to We ok their order for drinks. We waited for about 25 minutes and then managed to get the attention of another waitress, who was about to serve a table who had just arrived! Susanne was delightful and soon soothed the ruffled feathers, took our orders and got our drinks. When the food arrived it was absolutely delicious. I had the best sirloin steak I have had in a very long while and my husband's Schnitzel was huge and so tender. Would I go again? Too right I would (providing Susanne was on duty!)

Visited yesterday for Lunch with my partner, after reading the good TA reviews. Toasti, prawn kroketten (with real prawns inside!) and steak toasts were all very tasty, served fast, made out of fresh ingredients and reasonably priced. I also enjoyed their cava, and their very friendly service. They were catering for a wedding that day but they were also very attentive to us, and their location is perfect to watch the world walk by and the little port of Hellevoetsluis.

A day-off, and, ergo, an opportunity to catch-up with writing a review of this 'fine' venue, which I visited for the very first time (in late January), after a very quick 'prowl' around both Brielle and Rockanje......(sadly, no time for Oostvoorne)......It should be noted that this is the 'sister' restaurant of 'De Smaeck van Brielle'.....which is obviously in 'Brielle'......also, an exceptional restaurant - which I first visited in 2009, and, circa, 10 times (in all), over the years.....the standard of cuisine, 'there' - always exceptional !I seem to recall, this 'sister' restaurant, opening in, circa, 2012 - and I'm pleased to inform that this is as good, as the Brielle restaurant. It is located on the road, which leads from Brielle, via Nieuwenhoorn, to Hellevoetsluis.......I had deliberated whether I should 'phone ahead' to book a table (as per usual, under the name 'Johan van der Smut'), but I thought - 'No! Let's be sensible for once...'I had to be fairly rapid (irrespective of potential indigestion, from 'wolfing' the food down), and deliberated over whether to go for the Oude Rotterdamsche Sandwich (I know knew why a Dutch ex, had problems saying - 'Assshton Villa') or the Salmon and Shrimp Sarnie....with a creamy.....cocktail sauce.I opted for the latter, and was delighted, immeasurably.....it arrived very promptly; it was exquisitely 'created', and was delicious. Service was excellent, and staff highly amenable......worth a visit !!!
