We enjoyed Sunday Lunch here and it was just fantastic, from the service to the food, to the setting. The choice of food is amazing, especially the seafood to start with. The carvery is great, you can refill your plate as many times as you want and the choice of puddings was awesome. It's child friendly, with colouring in books, children friendly buffet etc. Would I come back, oh yes!!!!!!

I live near the Italian border and I love Italian food.I took my father along for an "authentic Mediterranean" meal and left feeling embarrassed: this is nothing like an Italian restaurant we find in Italy or in France.I have never been in an Italian restaurant before that did not offer grissini: not only did they not offer them; they didn't even have them! Instead we were offered (no not offered, it went on the bill) some bread and olive oil "dip": the olive oil was tasteless, I will say no more. The "house red" was okay, but expensive by the glass. One of my favourite dishes is spaghetti alla carbonara: but sadly instead of a light delicious carbonara, I was served a thick creamy sauce that I actually had difficulty getting through (there is no cream in traditional spaghetti alla carbonara in Italy). I mentioned it to the waiter who seemed to think that this anglo version made with cream was acceptable; I chose not to argue as I did not wish to upset my father, who found his rather expensive vitello milanese okay, but nothing special (the pasta pomodoro didn't look as if it had been made with fresh ingredients). Finally the expresso was an expresso, but not an Italian expresso that we all love in Italy: it had no intensity.... The up side was that the service was friendly, and that does count for something.

We've had the opportunity to dine here twice with family while visiting the area with the recent one during the May bank holiday weekend. On both occasions we were all served with excellent plates of food from the great range of food on their menu and all of generous portion size. The staff are friendly and are helpful when querying anything on their food or drinks menu.Well worth a visit for lunch or dinner.

The menu choice for breakfast is great. I enjoyed perfectly poached eggs on toast with avocado. Absolutely delicious. Quick service and friendly staff. The cafe seems to be undergoing some renovations at the moment so it's not as aesthetically pleasing as I'd imagine it normally would be but dont let that put you off!

The Oak Room Restaurant gets its name from the rich oak panelling that creates an elegant ambience and the room is crowned with a domed ceiling. Breakfast is taken in the Oak Room Restaurant where you can enjoy beautiful views of the gardens and lawns. Th
this was a birthday treat which unfortunately did not meet expectations. The building and surrounding gardens on approach by car are amazing as is the inside. The table was booked for 8pm so we arrived at 7.30 and were shown through to the lounge bar but sat on the terrace as it was a nice evening.Drinks arrived at 8 and we were told there would be someone to take us to the restaurant by 8.30 we wandered into the restaurant thinking they had forgotten us.The tables at the far end of the Oak room for couples are perhaps too close together as we could hardly hear ourselves over the loud conversation from neighbouring tables and we should probably have asked to move.Although our order was taken on the terrace out first course did not turn up until 9pm with the second course close behind.By 9.30 we really only wanted our bill so skipped pudding and coffee. The food was average at best but not what I had hopped for the best bit was the asparagus foam amuse bouche .

We booked for 3 but ended up as 4, despite it being a very busy night there, they were happy to accommodate our changes. The service was very good, again despite it being very busy. We had a variety of food between us (pizza, pasta and meat) and it was all delicious.Hi jcg2011 thank you for your review. I am pleased that we were able to accommodate your party and that you enjoyed your variety of food. Hopefully see you again soon

Four of us arrived for lunch on Sunday, my Wife and I had the fish and chips, which was very large, well cooked with nice crispy chips, peas and salad, another of our party had the roast lamb, which she was very pleased with, and the other member of our group had a pizza, which he really enjoyed. The garden is nice to sit in with views across the fields, whilst the interior of the pub is old quaint country pub style, and was quite busy inside. The staff were very polite and attentive. My only criticism, is that the outside area could have done with a tidy, the block paved area had weeds coming up through them.
