Had some meals here, and the quality was average.So this is a problem from the kitchen staff...Service on the bar and from the waitress is good.

People I was visiting bought tickets to an opera and buffet dinner at the hohe schule, and it was incredible. They do not do these types of events very often, but definitely keep an eye out because the opera was amazing (free champagne at intermission), it was beautiful. After the show they had a 3 course buffet set up and the food did not taste like buffet style food. I can't even get over how delicious it was! The atmosphere of the old school was really interesting and Herborn itself is a very pretty old town. A lot of very old buildings and tudor architecture, even a castle. If you are staying near Herborn check out this restaurant and you may get lucky and be able to attend one of the events!!

I stopped off for food here before flying out and was very impressed. Coming from the UK I didn't expect to find a proper bar/restaurant in a small airport like this and it is very good.

We did not stay in this hotel or eat in the separate restaurant, but attended a wedding reception held here that was excellent! The premises are perfect with a large dining room, dance floor, and outside terrace. The service was the highlight - all servers were friendly, accommodating and most personable. The room and tables were beautifully decorated (at the wedding party's request). The wines and beers were all very good. The fresh mixed green salads, celery soup and buffet dinner and desserts were all fresh and delicious. One member of our party with very particular tastes had been perfectly catered to! It was a wonderful dining experience throughout the night and everyone was pleased. Job well done!

I went with some friends to Sascha's Kochschmiede for a small birthday dinner. From the outside the restaurant & hotel have a traditional look as they are in a half-timbered house. The interior was a positive surprise, it is quite modern and brightly furnished. We had a table by the fireplace which has a very cosy atmosphere. The menu is dominated by traditional German and Croatian meat dishes. Surprisingly, for the small town of Wilnsdorf, our waiter spoke good English which made ordering very pleasant experience. We ordered a mixed meat specialties grill of Croatian and some Argentinian steak for 4 people. It was really delicious. You can taste that everything is fresh and home-made. Besides the great quality of the food the staff was very pleasant and hospitable. As we requested the bill, the patron, Sascha, gave my friend a bottle of red wine as a present as he had found out that it was his birthday. This was a very cool surprise and kind offering. All in all we had a wonderful time in Sascha's Kochschmiede and highly recommend it.

They didn't speak English and we didn't speak German, but we all had a good time! We ordered a tapas plate to share for three people, and then had salad and pizza afterwards. Everything was excellent. The tapas was small, but very flavorful and delicious.

Our hosts treated us to lunch at the Gastehaus Wilgrsdorf today. We had a wonderful lunch. The facilities and service were very good and the view from our window seats was excellent. The portions were huge - too much for lunch and everything was very good except that my rump steak was over cooked... I requested Medium Rare and received Medium Well. It was OK the pepper sauce saved the dish. The Spargelsuppe was most excellent!

I ate here while staying at the Snorrenburg Hotel and it is very good. On the recommendation of one of my German friends I ordered something off the menu but the bill was still very reasonable. It has good food, good beer, good atmosphere - what more do you want?

I have visited the Schlosscafe in Dillenburg on various occasions due to its prime location. The food was normally not very satisfying at all. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that the owner has changed. The new owner has transformed the restaurant. The food is now excellent, the service was friendly and the interior had a much needed facelift. The food took a while to arrive but was very fresh and delicious. Apart from the Italian food, they also do great German cakes. They did not take any form of credit card, so please bring cash. Apart from that, I can only recommend this restaurant. It is no comparison to the earlier incarnation of the Schloss Cafe. Definitely a top spot to for food in Dillenburg now.
