We visited for lunch and sat at an outside table which offers a view of beautiful konvikstrasse. Service was impeccable and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and so imaginative. The lamb in particular was the best! This meal definitely made an impression and we wished we had gone back for dinner.

The Kultur & Bürgerhaus in Denzlingen is a design event location with an included restaurant. You enjoy lake and blackforrest view. the Restaurant is also the caterer for all in house events. The location is perfect für all types of events up to 1500 gues
Usually, I don't eat steak when visiting Germany but this was - hands down - one of the best meals I had: Rumpsteak w/ Kraeuterbutter and Risotto. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender texture and perfect temperature (medium rare), paired w/ a delicious risotto and side salad. Location is rather "outside" of the center and the restaurant - while offering lots of space - feels modern but rather cold. Great outdoor seating in summer and delicous food at affordable prices.

After several meals of amazing German comfort food, we were in need of a little variation. We happened upon this little gem. Although it was extremely crowded, we only had to wait at the bar about 10 minutes before being seated. We had an extremely efficient English speaking waiter who took our order quickly and brough our drinks even quicker. We each ordered a different pizza and all of them were fantastic. The service, food and wine were all fantastic and the price was reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant for something a little different.

We were recommended this restaurant by a local as the best place to find good German schnitzel in Freiburg. We were lucky to get a table as it was bursting with local Freiburgers tucking into generous portions of excellent food. It really does serve schnitzel and variations on schnitzel with excellent potatoes on the side so don't make the effort if you want choice or fine dining but for a really filling meal of traditional local food it is excellent. And a local schnapps to finish off is ideal

If you're on holiday in the Black Forest or Freiburg area, and want a hot, well-prepared, delicious meal that smacks of comfort food and home cooking, AND is served up with courtesy and a smile - this is the place to go. Despite the fact that we live just outside Glottertal, it has taken us five years to set foot inside this cosy little restaurant, and now that we have, we will be going back frequently. The interior boasts an old-fashioned tiled heating oven which automatically gives a special warmth. The decor is what you would expect in this area of the Black Forest, but without going over the top. Being Christmas, lots of candles and Christmas decorations and flowers graced the windowsills and tables. The menu, with regional and seasonal specialities, as well as a variety of local wines, offers great value for money. We had the seasonal roast goose, with red cabbage and potato dumplings which were light, fluffy and piping hot, served with lashings of tasty gravy. This choice came with a plentiful starter of 'feldsalat' (lamb's lettuce) lightly dressed and served with slivers of bacon and croutons. We chose a bottle of local red wine to accompany our meal, and topped it off with an espresso. A treat from start to finish, and we recommend it highly.

We stayed in Glottertal for a long weekend and ate at this restaurant twice. The food on both occasions was gorgeous, the service fantastic, and even my pigeon German seemed to get us exaclty what we were looking for. The Steaks are divine, and they also do a very good line in 'Forrelle' which is a Trout.Well worth a visit if you are in the area.We were treated with exaclty the same care and attention as the locals who were eating in there.

Situated in the centre of a picture-post-card village, owners of Zum Goldenen Engel have spent the past 500 years polishing their craft and they've not wasted their time! It's everything you'd want a Schwarzwald hotel to be - architecturally timeless; staff in local costume providing professional service; interiors rooms taken from every fairy-story book you've ever read; and located in some of Europe's most beautiful countryside. We have stayed here on a number of occasions and have enjoyed splendid rooms, each with a small balcony overlooking the village, and furnished to a very high modern standard. In the evening, the dining room is a centre for local people which gives it the jovial atmosphere of a medieval tavern. Most of the staff speak little or no English but one or two speak very fluently so translation is never a problem. Do yourselves a massive favour and have dinner at the hotel. We've always found German food a little bit "beer & sausage" but the Goldenen Engel was a revaluation to us! Cuisine of a high order at realistic prices that will have you trying some very good food there again and again! A great experience that we shall repeat again next year - I would encourage you to do the same.

A good restaurant to me is a combination of an outstanding cuisine with an attentive and friendly service. While my favorite restaurant in the past, the nearby Hirschen, provides very good food, I had repeated bad experience with the service in the past, reaching a point where I was ready to look for an alternative place to dine. The good news is that you don't have to go far - right around the corner the Gasthaus Adler in Glottertal provides both - well executed, delicious dishes with service that makes you feel welcome.I recently went there for an extended lunch. The appetizers got served in the rear patio, providing a nice setting for a relaxed small talk. We then headed inside for the other dishes. The inside is traditionally decorated in the style of a restaurant that has a long tradition. It is charming and welcoming. As mentioned earlier, the service is excellent, very friendly and also patient, providing recommendations if needed. The dishes were well executed and can easily compete with the other restaurants in Glottertal. We started with a gazpacho, that provided a nice palette of flavors, followed by a fresh garden salad. The main dish, a ragout of deer with Swabian dumplings (spaetzle) and lingonberries, was one of the best I had in quite a while. The dessert, a black forest cake inspired ice cream, provided a wonderful finish. There is a good reason the Gasthaus Adler is recognized by various restaurant guides - you will not be disappointed!

A very nice hotel, not far from Freiburg, nicely situated in a little village with all amenities needed for a weekend in the Black Forrest. It is traditionally decorated, but with modern rooms and it's very clean. Although there is carpet in the rooms it doesn't give a dirty impression. Breakfast is tasty and exhaustive with a nice selection of breads, cheeses, meats, etc. The only downside was dinner. We went here a few times for dinner due to logistical restraints, the size of our group and the ages of some participants. One evening we had to wait close to 2 hours for our food, whilst the children were taken care of long before, so they were restless and tired. My wife had to take the baby upstairs and sit there whilst others still had to finish their meals. Due to this experience they offered us deserts on the house, but it doesn't take away from the fact that my duck and that of my mother-in-law was terrible. Hard and without much taste, I've rarely eaten duck so bad. The desert on the other side was really good.On the second occasion we informed them about this experience and we came earlier and the food didn't take as long. The service is really courteous and proffesional. THe staff is knowledgeable and friendly with that German directness. All round a great hotel with a nice restaurant and a good value for money option for a weekend in the Black Forrest.
