Homey all-day eatery & bar featuring German dishes made with some locally-sourced and organic ingredients.
Based on the reviews here on Trip Advisor, I was very excited to try this restaurant with my friends. I've been to Germany, and the thought of having genuine and tasty Wiener Schnitzel was downright thrilling. Unfortunately, this restaurant/experience was a disappointment.Firstly, we ordered the Obazda which is described as "Bavarian style cheese spread served with tomatoes, red onion, and bread". In my experience, blue cheese is a divisive substance. Out of the 6 people at our table - only 1 person could stomach the taste of blue cheese. It would have been helpful for the menu or the server to have mentioned that blue cheese is a key component to this appetizer. We also ordered the calamari. It was clearly frozen from a bag. The Wiener Schnitzel *looked* amazing, but it was very bland. I had to add a good deal of salt. One of our party members noticed baskets of bread and butter being passed out to other tables. None had been offered to us. Even though we were in the midst of entrees, we requested the server bring us some. I'm not sure why none was ever brought to our table of 6... especially considering that the blue cheese spread was only half eaten and we waited a considerable time for our entrees. We hoped to have a great "decadent" dessert, as they advertise. It was 8PM on a Sat., but they had run out of Black Forest Cake and Cheese Cake already. I ordered the nutella crepes, and the parts that were edible were quite tasty. However, the edges were burned. I don't think it's acceptable to serve burned crepes to customers. I will not be returning to this restaurant, nor will I recommend it to anyone that I know.I am giving it an "average" rating due to the fact that the person who liked blue cheese said the Obazda was good. The calamari was cooked fine, even though it was from a bag. The Schnitzel was edible, though bland, and the parts that weren't burned of the crepes were delicious.

Local strip mall with surprising Eastern European food served by waiter and waitresses who are from the country....Serbia, maybe Fyrom, but I doubt that....good for lunch and we had the early dinner... Schnitzel was on the menu as there is a definite German influence. Who knew?

A nice quirky restaurant with a large menu of delicious offerings and superb service. HOWEVER (are you reading this, restaurant manager?), for a fine restaurant of this type, the bread (stale and tasteless) and butter (frozen wrapped in foil) was simply awful and not in keeping with the expectation of high quality that a top restaurant should have. And since we were dipping the bread in the very good mussel appetizer, it was something that we were likely to notice. A small issue, to be sure, but something that should never happen in a fine restaurant, and a French one especially.

With a traditional Belgian menu created from fresh seasonal ingredients, it's easy to see why Brabo is one of the best restaurants in Alexandria.
A reservation is a must, the service is excellent even when full and the waiters are stretched. The food is good but not exceptional, some of the dishes were quite salty. They do put their own twist on some French dishes not always for the better but kudos for trying. I would go back. Like much of Old Town parking is hard to find so use a ride share or taxi.
