Our friends took us here, and one could say the meal was tasty, but one could not justify $100/person. First the decor is more like a cafe or a diner with even a crack in the table. The music was too loud and inappropriate for a dinner setting. The wine list is unwieldy and over priced. Even when the dining room was empty, the hostess sat a loud mouth at the next table who bloviated about wine during his entire meal. The bartender was not sure that she had the ingredients for a cocktail. Then the drink arrived too late and missing a key spice. The answer was that the local recipe doesn't call for it.The crab cakes were delicious, but the fish was dry and so on. Finally we had to fuss to get the bill. At this price you expect a symphony or a chamber quartet rather than the local band during garage practice.

In high school I worked at a German deli in Saratoga, Ca. Called Vienna Woods. It served a good variety of Sausages, Sanwiches Soups and Salads. I washed dishes there and relished my delicious lunches prepared by Inge. Ivonne at The Stuf't Potato is a fantastic Chef and prepares authentic German food very similarly. Her Schnizle & Spaezzle are beyond belief. Excellent potato dumplings. The soups and salads are incredible. I love the Goulash when I'm really hungry. The sausages and crepes are very good. One day I will try a baked potato they look very tasty. Quite a selection of beers and wines. Leave room for dessert. Get a Reuben sandwich and potato salad to go for tomorrow's lunch. The ambiance is cheery and linen napkin nice but not formal. German music sets the mood. This restaurant is the real thing.
Ivonne Morgan, a classically trained European chef. She also loves to speak with you in German when she is not too busy.
The Stuf't Potato's new expanded location on Broadway in Eureka, California, provides Austrian food and specialty baked potatoes. This kind of cuisine is not available anywhere else between Fort Bragg and Coos Bay.The specialty German beers and Austrian breakfasts, lunches, and dinnersare very filling. The large strudel dessert is worth a stop even if you don't order a meal.
