We went to Lochside, Afton Restaurant for a family meal to celebrate my dads birthday, having been here before on a number of occasions. As always the food was lovely and the portions and overall taste was great. However this time the service wasn't the best and was exceptionally slow. They were training new staff which is fair enough, but with several waiters and waitresses walking around there never seemed to be anyone attending our table? I don't know if this is the usual process but each time we were dealing with someone different.Firstly we had ordered a round of drinks and one of the party didn't receive the correct beer that they had asked for, however he drank the one they provided, the second time I received a gin and lemonade when I asked for a gin and tonic, which I returned as it didn't taste right at all! The young waitress/waiters didn't ever seem to have an order pad with them so they were trying to remember the drink orders, they were shouting to other staff "does someone have an order pad" and no one seemed to have, so we were never sure if we would get what we had asked for. No one came to take our orders until approx 20 mins after we'd been seated. Then the starters took a long time to arrive. By the time that we had our mains we'd been there nearly 1 hr 45 mins. The wait between the starter and then mains must have been close to an hour! And when the mains arrived they arrived in 2's. So some of us had food and then it was a 5 min wait till the next 2 plates arrived, and then 2-3 mins till the next 2 plates. Some of the food wasn't as hot as it could have been, so I can only assume that the plates had been sitting waiting on the food that wasn't ready. This is a real shame, we love this restaurant but if we'd have been in a hurry then we would have had to leave. We've never experienced this here before so we didn't expect to be there so long. Luckily I had left plenty of time between lunch and the tickets I had purchased for an event later that evening. Overall the food is great and everyone was mainly happy with their meals, apart from the temperature issue, my only complaint is the service on this occasion.

A small independent business ran by two friends offering a fantastic range of drinks, cocktails and wines. Offering a menu that caters for all that is always freshly made on the premises by our head chef and his kitchen team.
We stopped here for dinner one evening when driving south from Glasgow towards Turnberry for a golf holiday. The staff here are very friendly and we enjoyed high quality gourmet Scottish pub food here. Fresh ingredients and generous potion sizes made this meal highly satisfying. The steak pie was a meat loverâs delight, and the lemon meringue dessert was simply divine. Would definitely return - itâs a great place for a casual meal, and also seems amenable to larger groups as well. The adjacent table was celebrating an 18th birthday and the birthday boy was hilariously trolled with a princess-themed birthday cake. Good to see that people have a sense of humour there!

Went today Saturday 20/04/2019 on way home from Glasgow wish I hadn't bothered. Cauliflower and broccoli soup so thin and runny it was tasteless , wife had the battered cauliflower they were solid with a disgusting sauce. I ordered the steak burger wot I got was a tiny burger on a toasted frozen bap burger tasteless, oioins rings were so over battered could not eat them as batter wasn't cooked all the way through, chips worst I,ve ever had left them can't remember last time I left chips , wife had fish and chips two bits of thin over battered fish and chips again more batter than fish . I see ty do a cheap £10 2 course deal but I didn't know that before I went in I,d rather pay more more get a decent meal than this rubbish . Must be one of the worst in Ayrshire as I,ve been to so many better even at the same price.Hi Kenneth, Please accept my sincerest apologies that you did not enjoy your dining experience on your last visit to The Fenwick Hotel. Set in the beautiful and historical grounds of Rowallan Castle, the Glasshouse Restaurant we are working very hard to make the Glasshouse Restaurant a "must go" destination in Ayrshire. Offering a high range of innovative and classic dishes on our Menu, y
This restaurant has a great reputation and a group of us (two couples) were really looking forward to spending a night here. It got off to a strange start when the nervous waitress completely forgot to give us food menus, and insisted we ordered wine before we even knew what was on offer (let alone what we wanted to eat). We forgave this clear case of nerves, and with a supervisor running around clearing up her repeated errors on all the tables, we eventually got our order taken. Even this wasnât painless as the waitress forgot that one dish was off the menu (so he had to reorder and chose a special) but we settled in to some lovely starters. When the mains came, however, one of the dishes (the special) did not appear and there would have been a 20 minute delay to fix it (so he ate the wrong dish that had been brought out in error) and the experience continued to spiral out of control. The waitress then hid for the next 15 minutes and couldnât be located. A 30 minute wait for water (asked for 3 times) when every other table had left started really to test our sense of humour and made it beyond a joke. With the inexperienced waitress now having given up, instead of just giving us the bill, the supervisor gave us a 45 minute detailed explanation as to her views as to the reasons behind our lack of decent service, and the in-depth history of what happens to cleaning/serving rosters when the general manager goes home early. To cap it all off, the same sex couple in our group were then effusively congratulated for being brave enough to be âopenly homosexual in Scotlandâ, which was well meant but utterly inappropriate and deeply embarrassing for everyone. To their credit, the incorrect main course was taken off the bill, and we were given complimentary coffees, but it didnât make up for the worst service, and strangest experience, I have ever had in a restaurant. The general manager would have been better served supervising this car crash of a restaurant, instead of going AWOL, and some basic training for young nervous waitresses who clearly havenât been told about how to do their job is urgently required.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The front of house staff were delightful and very helpful with one member of the family who has a nut allergy. The service was relaxed and the meal was excellent. The sticky toffee pudding was one of the best we'd ever had! Thank you.

A relaxed and stylish destination in the heart of Stewarton, The new-look Mill House serves delicious food, all day every day. Take a look at out our menus below.
Myself, my husband and our two friends reserved a table at The Mill House at 3pm on Sunday 9th Sept. We were going for the quiz that was starting at 5pm and thought we would get some food beforehand. What a nightmare that was! First of all, no one mentioned to us that we could eat our food in the downstairs bar where the quiz was being held and the service was absolutely atrocious! Sooo incredibly slow. No one came to see us and ask how the food was/ if we needed a drink etc. We had to try and get the staffs attention and then when we did mange to ask them for something we had a good 10 min wait before we received what we had requested. We still hadn't been served our main meal at 4.15pm so the guys jumped downstairs to see how busy the bar was and by this point it was heaving. No tables, chairs or stools available and people were actually sitting out on the stairs!Needless to say we left at 5.30pm and the quiz hadn't started yet - we definitely won't be back. Poor service and very poor quality of food.
