Gussto is a meditaranean restaurant in the heart of durham city. It is a family run business with a unique experience that takes you to the heart of the meditaranean , Our homemade dishes are bursting with flavour in which our chefs take pride in the food
Restaurant clean and pleasant. Staff were also very pleasant. But the food was disappointing. We had the lunchtime special of 3 tapas for £10.95 per head, so six different dishes between us. Almost all of them were very bland, very much lacking in flavour. The beef was good however, very tender and relatively tasty. i would not have liked to have paid the full menu price for them. The croquettes we had for example - there were only three of them - were quite small, and menu price if I remember correctly was over £5.We would not return here.

Taster menu or a la carte available, all with Scottish twist. Big portions and nicely cooked. Range of drinks was interesting, with taster menu, including whisky of course. Cheerful, helpful staff. Lovely environment downstairs. Would go again.

This is such a charming little authentic italian restaurant. Greeted by very friendly staff - we booked a table in advance and I would definitely recommend doing that as it became full pretty quickly after we were seated. Excellent menu choice including specials - all sounded yummy. I opted for the seafood pasta which I have to say is the best I have ever eaten - plenty of mussels, large prawns and chuncky pieces of fish all in a delicious tomato and garlic sauce. Others had pizza which looked equally as good.Wine choice, although limited, was good quality at reasonable prices. All in all an excellent meal in nice cosy setting with knowledgable and friendly staff.

The restaurant, located inside Hotel Indigo, is absolutely stunning with one of the most beautifully breathtaking dining rooms I've ate in. All staff were friendly, offering assistance when needed. The afternoon tea, however, was very basic and didn't match up to the high standards I was expecting. The food itself was lovely, but I expected more than your average afternoon tea. Maybe it was because it was a Groupon offer but I don't think I'd pay full price for what we got.Thank you very much for this kind feedback. I am delighted that you were able to appreciate our beautiful dining room - we love it too! I am also very pleased to hear that you found the staff friendly and attentive - we pride ourselves on providing great service to all our customers. However, I am disappointed that you were unimpressed by the afternoon tea - I would however like to stress that we serve the same afternoon tea to all customers whether they have vouchers or not. Regardless, I will be sure to pass this feedback on to the chefs for their consideration. I hope that you decide to join us again as we would love to welcome you back to the restaurant. Kindest regards, MPW Management

I have reviewed this restaurant on several occasions over the years, and each time I have praised it. We booked for Sunday lunch on 1st September, and have to say the quality of the food was superb. The restaurant was almost full when we arrived at 1.30pm giving a good atmosphere. We were shown to our table, and offered the wine menu. We were brought bread, water, and olives, and given the menu. Both my wife and I chose the soup of the day, as we had chosen soup before, and it was always excellent. My wife chose whipped ricotta (another starter) with garlic mushrooms. and I had the 2 course Sunday lunch which was soup and then fishcakes. Both meals were of the highest quality. Washed down with a bottle of Syrah Rose' it made for a perfect Sunday lunch. This restaurant is not pretentious in any way or over stated, but knows what it is about. The staff are friendly, and efficient. My meal including the discretionary 10% came to £73.15. Which is very good value. This is a top top restaurant.

Visited on a Saturday evening, lovely setting with nice table layout and gentle jazz music. Food was very good, I had citron very beetroot salad to start followed my rump of lamb. My partner had the terrine followed by the sea bass. We both enjoyed the food however as a suggestion all the dishes had the same vegetables could there be different vegetables for different dishes? My partner had trio of desserts which were delicious. I must comment on the fantastic service by the young waiter team, absolute credit to the establishment. We will definitely return as great experience and real value for money.

There was a large group of us for my mam's 60th birthday, and everything came together wonderfully. Starters and mains were lovely- no complaints. I had the kiev pizza which was lovely, and the mozzarella to start. My mam was surprised with a birthday cake which the restaurant let us eat there. Lovely evening and lovely accommodating staff. Thanks for taking the time to review our restaurant,Iâm glad that you all enjoyed your, and your mum had a great birthday day,
