Reviews on European food in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. There are 2,000 years of history in Cologne, and visitors here will find everything from Roman towers to Gothic churches to fine examples of modern architecture. Cologne has a variety of museums, too—check out the Museum of Applied Art, the Museum Ludwig and, if you have a sweet tooth, the Chocolate Museum. Be forewarned, though—the gift shop at the latter will utterly ruin your diet.

This is a great Italian restaurant with tasty food. You need to book in advance. There is a wide range of pizzas, great starters and pasta. It is quite loud and sometimes hard to follow a conversation. For some reason they accept cash only which is unexpected and inconvenient in modern times.

The price level is very high, therefore I will look into this with the proper lenses, expecting each part of the experience to be worth a part of the check. 3 main courses, 1 glass of wine for me, water for the others, and three espresso, ca.210â¬. I went for a business lunch, didn't explore too much of the menu, but what we ordered (the beef, 51â¬) was simply amazing, really above expectations. The wine chosen by the waiter was also great and the espresso at the end met the strict requirement of an Italian palate. This is the good part. The negatives: the place is very small, which would have been "cozy" if it wasn't for the fact that each time the waiters walked between my chair and the one behind they were forced to bump into it. Maybe the first or second time I was leaning out too much, could be, but after I pulled myself all the way below the table (not always comfortable) it went on so.. This was bad. The bread selection and the butter were anonymous. Not bad, at all, just didn't make you want to rush at them, unless you were already hungry at impatient. The wine was great but... what was it? I found it in the glass and nobody took the time to tell me what it was, have me sample it, or even just ask me whether I liked it. Also bad. Even worse, the wine glass had water stains from the washing machine all over, someone should have wiped it before delivering the wine. All in all, I told my wife how amazing the food was, I might tell a few other people about this great meat, but I honestly don't see myself recommending investing 100⬠p.p. on a lunch or dinner in this place, unless they were specifically looking for something on this menu.

..when you want to have a three or four course meal. The quality of food and its preparation make up for the wait though. A small place with friendly staff and a short but expertly commissioned wine list. Enjoy..!

Strengths: Attentive staff; small intimate restaurant; will seat groups of 6-10; only 30 people in whole place. All the food was excellent and I mean really high quality; its a fixed menu; nice opening starter; relzed antipasta platter; the cheese pasta with trufffles is simply phenomenal; all the meat entrees were great.Opportunies: Ventaliation. The management needs to take seriously the need to get fresh air into the restaurant. Put a small vent above the door.

We really enjoyed the Tuna and Salmon dishes at Noa Cafe recently! The staff were warm and welcoming. The atmosphere buzzing and the wine and desert rounded off the evening:)

While on business in Cologne, some hotel guests recommended Restaurant Brucken. Upon walking in, we were greeted with warm smiles. The outdoor seating was booked, so we were sat at an open window to the outdoors within the restaurant. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. The menu offers tapas, in which we ordered the Tzatziki and also the Sheep Cheese drizzled in honey and sesame. Both were fresh tasting and vibrant! For main dishes, we ordered the schnitzel and pork back steaks. Both were amazingly flavorful, cooked just right, and well complimented by delicious fried potatoes and mushroom sauce. The portions were huge and we could have easily split a meal. Receiving good quality German schnitzel is sometimes a challenge, but this establishment hit high marks! We will definitely return!

I had seen the reviews for Sonder and thought we would try it. Despite the long walk from our hotel by the river we found the restaurant easily and were seated early with a friendly welcome by a young man who said he was brought up in Eastern Germany so apologised for his excellent English! He explained the menu to us and we had a couple of courses, shared a desert and had a bottle of wine, a beer and two bottles of water. The food was brilliant, the home cured mackerel, the bulgar stuffed peppers and the marinaded salmon with glass noodles were all fantastic as was a citrus creme brulee. Good value too at about 85 euros. Would highly recommend.

The owner is so typical German-Italian that it directly gives you this special atmosphere. Although in 'downtown' Köln and located close to a busy street, there are nice cosy tables outside and when inside you're in Italy. The food is not overprized, nice pasta's, pizza's and tiramisu, ofcourse always ending with a free limoncello from the owner. Well worth a visit when in the area!

Eckkneipe/Gaststätte gutbürgerlich, alteingesessen, rustikal Frische, hausgemachte Speisen, Kölsch, Weine und Softgetränke
We made advanced reservations for a Sunday evening and were very pleased that we chose this restaurant. It was a few minutes walk from the train, away from the tourist center of Koeln. We were promptly seated and given a menu with a variety of seasonal and classic Schnitzel dishes. I ordered the pumpkin and my partner ordered the mushroom cream sauce. We both thought they were the best Schnitzel dishes we'd ever had. We don't eat veal, but the pork was delicious and tender. The breading was light and crunchy - almost like a Southern USA cornmeal texture. It was truly heavenly. The portion was incredibly large and we wish we'd shared one - however, it was so delicious we ate a lot more than we thought we would! We definitely would recommend this place and would gladly return when again in Koeln.
