We chanced upon this delightful bistro while staying over at Chartres en route to the UK. The staff welcomed us (and our dog). Nothing was too much trouble. We asked for a wine not on the wine list and we were provided with it. My wife ate from the set menu and they were happy to change the entree to her choice. Both courses were delicious. I ate from the carte, again both courses were delicious - I was treated to the best steak I have eaten in a long while. Finally, I must commend the staff. We had a great evening. Highly recommended.

Le Moulin de Ponceau is a beautiful old mill on the Eure just under the cathedral, a lovely walk from the cathedral. We had not made a reservation but were recommended to go there by the boutique in the cathedral if we wanted dejeuner gastronomique which we did. Wow. Lovely place, perfect service and fantastic food. We had a trout cuit starter and the risotto with roasted local mushrooms and Parmesan. The grain was actually not rice but we think farro, again grown locally. Dessert was roasted figs with sheepâs cheese and French honey ice cream. A Sauvignon Blanca was the perfect match. Highly recommend this place which we understand is under relatively new management. Worth a trip from Paris for sure for the cathedral and this restaurant!Dear PJV1426, Thank you so much for your kind review :) We are happy to read that you really appreciate our restaurant and the cuisine. Looking forward to welcoming you again ! Best regards, Stéphane

I was traveling alone and was attracted to the menu on offer. Staff were very welcoming, attentive and helpful in translating the menu and providing great service in what became a very busy restaurant. I chose the goat's cheese bruschetta and was impressed with both the presentation and the flavours. For my main course I had the Montgolfiere de Veau which was delicious. It is essentially superbly flavoured veal pie served in a ceramic dish with a very light puff pastry top. It was packed with melt in your mouth chunks of veal. I loved it. I strongly recommend you try this place and it might be wise to book.

This is a friendly little place. We ate outdoors, were quickly served delicious beef bourgninon, soup and healthy salads. We could see sit down Sunday dinner type meals going on inside. The onion soup - something I try everywhere I go - was strange though - a totally different version than the classic. Like several contemporary French restaurants, the bread and cheese was served toasted on the side, not in the soup! But this is a great little spot to eat anyway, everything else was very good.

Was there for my birthday dinner and the whole experience at Georges made it very special. The ambiance was pleasant from the start till our departure, the staff was friendly and not stiff as it may in similar places. The journey of tastes included some short getaways to farther countries but mostly covered France of course which was truly amazing and fully satisfying. The visual presentation of the food was nice and I particularly enjoyed the monogram of the restaurant on glassware.Merci.

Got the last table one night. The service friendly, food well cooked and tasty. The menu is very French, but has a reasonable selection. I quite liked the set menus, you know where you are and it all seemed good value. Lovely salad to start and a terrine. Rump steak and sausage for mains. As I said well cooked and tasty. We also had a beer and wine and it totaled about £50. Yes Iâd go back so try it and enjoy. Only thing you need to know is they donât speak English, enjoy. The town itself is lovely and the lights are fantastic, a great place for a night or two.

We took the advice of Tripadvisor for our lunch here. it was described as a wine bar and brasserie with some fusion overtones and it was certainly all these things. The space is small and intimate and atmosphere is cosy. Our meals both began with delicious crispy shrimp wrapped in phyllo, and served with an Asian spicy sweet sauce. For my main course, I tried the special grilled Scottish salmon with soy sauce and honey, perfectly cooked, with grilled winter vegetables. My husband had the 'joues de boeuf Parmentier', a luscious beef stew cooked in Burgundy and topped with mashed potatoes. Desserts lived up to the rest of the meal--grilled pineapple with a verveine syrup and pistachio financiers was fresh and exquisite, and the apple crumble rich and traditional.

Very old , interesting timber framed building with lots and lots of character.Really nice, pleasant and friendly professional staff. ( English spoken and a menu in English ).Amuse bouche interesting! (Not particularly appetising)Shells with Risotto bland but served hot. Unfortunately some shell had been left in the dish and the last mouthfuls were left due to the crunch! The Rabbit with mustard Could have been hotter and was a bit bland. My wife had the fillet of beef with a sauce which was very good and very tasty .The caramelised pear and chocolate mousse was delicious!.***

We spent two nights in Chartres and luckily our concierge recommended us the restaurant Terra. After having a great dinner there, we decided to book a table also for the day after. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is very nice, the staff is friendly and very service-oriented, and finally Giuseppe, the owner and chef, who is a big Juventus-fan, is in my eyes the âAndrea Pirloâ of the restaurant business, truly a magician.....Whenever we are back to Chartres, our choice will only be Terra !!!!
