Not "typically French", but delicious nevertheless. Having said that, I had foie gras to start! My wife's sea bream and my guinea fowl were perhaps more conventional, but delicious. as were the desserts. Service was excellent by a friendly, pleasant lady. and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Cooking. presentation and flavours of the food really good.

This restaurant proposes a contemporary cooking(kitchen), between country(soil) and spicy flavors
As visitors discover, Montpellier has a huge range of restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, pizza parlours, creperies, curry houses - you name it. This one is genuinely special. It's a small place north of the Hotel de Ville with a couple of tables outside and a couple inside. The team comprises the chef in his open-plan kitchen and the lady who runs front-of-house who is genuinely charming. We kicked off with a bottle of Puech-Haut St Drezy, a local top-grade cuvee, for 30 euros ( a steal) which was bright violet in the glass, tight, rich and austere all at the same time. It reminded me of a Pomerol, driven by fruit and bright colour. What a bargain for the price. I then had lamb chops - sweet, rich and fragrant with rosemary from the hills nearby and accompanied by a pleasant ratatouille crusted with a farinaceous crumble. My wife ordered the monkfish - a beefy big sirloin of no-nonsense monkfish atop a timballe of unctuous risotto with a rich chorizo broth around the side. A really compelling combo. This sort of cooking is why you come to France to enjoy. The price was ridiculously low, best wine, coffees and calvados included. I am a very picky and critical person when it come to spending the hard-earned in restaurants and this place deserved every euro,

His is unique local genuine French restaurant mnged by a Husband and Wife team. The food was outstanding even though the choices are limited. The Frogs Legs were delicious as we're all the plates we chose, I particularly enjoyed my veal. It was a special food experience that we will highly recommend to all. You need to book to be sure of your seat. This is not a noisey tourist overcrowded loud established but a genuine French experience not to be missed.

With only , what appears to be 10 covers this restaurant is worth a visit, the owner/chef is very passionate and runs the whole show by himself. Extremely polite and friendly and really interesting dishes. Inexpensive too. Not sure we will go back as we feel we have kind of done it , but loved the concept and passion .

We went to this restaurant 10 years ago in its previous location and as soon as we decided to return to Montpellier there was no other choice but to return to Les Casseroles en folie as we had loved it last time. The owner was really friendly and the new location is lovely as it is on a sweet little square. We sat outside under the plane tree and the tables quickly filled as it is clearly well regarded. The galettes were delicious-mine was with emmenthal, lardons, egg and creme fraiche and was so tasty and surprisingly filling. There is an excellent value set meal available too.

Patrice (Frenchman- owner, chef, waiter, chief cook and bottle-washer), is an extraordinary person and his small restaurant (24 seats - be sure to reserve in advance) serves delicious French cuisine, all with a touch of Jack Daniels. The three-course Menu is a bargain - foie gras and lamb shank were outstanding -even the dessert has Jack Daniels. Patrice is quite the fun character - be prepared to relax and have fun.

Chef Charles Fontès and his team certainly lived up to expectations and the good reviews. The setting is very idyllic (although the lighting on the terrace could be less intense) and the service very welcoming. We opted for the tasting menu, which corresponded to most dishes on the à la carte menu. Particularly enjoyable was the foie gras de canard poélé aux égrumes, turbot sauvage and the pigeon filet. With only a few minor errors very nice and personal service. We even got a tour of the wine celler afterwards.

I was taken here by friends with no expectations, to leave having thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. Décor is fairly modern, including some of the tableware which catches the eye more than being practical. Waiting staff are very professional and explain dishes and wines. Food beautifully presented and cooked. A bit far from the centre of Montpellier if you don't have your own transport.

Stumbled across the restaurant when walking around one evening. Really glad that we did, great food. Set menu which changes weekly, enjoyed a really great bottle of wine too. Chef came out to explain each course, with a unique way to present the dishes. The outside seating area adds to this unique experience. Had the pleasure to eat at Reve du chef lately. It's a little out of the way but well worth it. Tastefully finished small restaurant with excellent food, all local or organic, all choices catered for (vegetarian, meat lovers.....). Will be back!
