We visited this stunning restaurant with friends (party of 7). Welcome from the Maitre d was excellent, atmosphere intimate in a country house sort of way - feels like you have been invited to dine in a minor stately home.Menu extensive, food excellent and brilliantly presented. Wine list great (but then this is the Loire!).Despite all above, not ridiculously expensive. Rooms also looked good and reasonably priced. Would certainly go again.

On a sun-filled day the garden outside La Licorne was a great place to enjoy lunch. We thought the food clever, imaginative, well presented and far more exciting than offered by some Michelin starred restaurants we visited on this holiday. A crab starter, cunningly labelled as lasagne (but not pasta) was a great dish, with layers of flavour. My beef was rarer than I would have wished but still very fine. My wife, eating off a cheaper menu, enthused about her cod. Service was attentive, but the restaurant was quiet. The wine list disappointed slightly but still provided a good bottle. Value was high and weâd happily return.

Right opposite Fontevraud's Royal Abbey you'll find Logis hotel Hostellerie La Croix Blanche, a historic coaching inn (1696) with 24 rooms. The cosy colourful French restaurant called 'Le Plantagenet' serves French cuisine according to traditional recipes
Great to find a hotel with a veggie menu in France. First day dinner was good though the veggie main option was mainly pureed carrot. Asparagus great. Steak, I understand, was very good. Second day, veggie main was a pasty with tasteless veg resembling baby food and lettuce swimming in vinaigrette (instead of the nice seasonal veg offered to the meat eaters!) Chicken and prawn dish didn't really work. Wine pairing is offered but no explanation of what wines were chosen and why. More importantly, the wine only appeared after asking for it at every course. Strawberries for dessert were the best bit, plenty of them, though some past their best.We are sorry that we didn't meet your expectations as far as the vegetarian menu was concerned.I checked with the chef and we have now made some changes in the recipe and veggie menu - thanks to your feedback; this was most helpful. The chicken-prawn main course is a great French classic recipe, the day we launched this dish all tables except for ordered it (24 out of 25 tables)! Wine service has been addresses by the appropriate waiter.

Someone advised me a while ago that to find a good place to eat is France is to follow the locals: they'll lead you to a place serving good food at a reasonable price. Le Delice, a friendly and welcoming restaurant/bar on the edge of the village, is indeed such a place, being frequented by locals and visitors both to the village and its famous abbey. The food is of an excellent quality and very well served. The menu is however rather limited and never changes, otherwise I would have given five stars. Fontevraud has quite a few 'eateries' now, three more formal restaurants and a number designed to catch the visitor. However Le Delice is really in a class of its own and thoroughly recommended.

The Best of this place is coming from its location: a well remodernated boat, finely decorated with good taste, on Loire river....beautiful experience dining with fisherman passing during sunset. It could be very romantic, too.Good wine, Food is ok, good choice of typical dishes...be careful though if you dont like giblets. Excellente tartelette tatin and delicate mushroom. You can choose à la carte, or a menu for 24â¬(entree, main course, dessert).Probably not the cheapest of the area, but it worth a visit.

Went with 2 adults and 1 child. Children's menu was only 1 choice but she absolutely loved it, chicken and potato's. Finished it within seconds! Our menu was really good and some great options and really well presented. At 16 Euros a main it was good value for the standard of food. This is pretty much a 5 out of 5, the only downside was the wait for coffee at the end but they were very busy and 2 serving. Definitely worth a visit.

This restaurant has a wonderful terrace with views of the chateau and Loire River. The food was perfect from start to finish! I had the salad with goat cheese and prosciutto followed by duck with mushroom sauce and finished with a local dessert with meringue, cream and raspberries. I could have licked the plates! Add the local white wine and it was just right!

We found that finding dinner in Fontevraud-dâAbbaye a challenge. The first night the restaurant said they were closed (30 minutes before posted time). The next night they said we needed a reservation. So we were forced to look for dinner in a nearby town. We found this restaurant on the corner as we came to the river. We were seated at a table outside on a warm summer evening. I canât remember what my wife had but I ordered a beef steak with fries and lemon meringue pie for dessert. I forgot the beer too. Although it wasnât the best steak I had on this trip it was acceptable and the prices here were very reasonable. The service was friendly and quick too.

Although the food was excellent in this restaurant we were not at all impressed with the service. We were shown to our table on a very warm evening and then left for sometime before even being offered a drink of any kind, not even water. We eventually ordered some white wine from the wine menu but when one of our party requested just a single glass of red wine to go with his main course, the waiter just brought him a glass without even offering him any choice.Generally we felt the place lacked atmosphere and was too formal, what a shame because as stated earlier the food was indeed excellent. Well done to the chef!
