Things to do in Bishops Stortford
We had a good time at the restaurant, nestled away from wedding festivities elsewhere on the grounds. The wait staff were both friendly and attentive. The cream tea was good and we were indulged without the usual reservations requirement which was appreciated. Our sandwiches were fresh with tasty fillings and the scones warm and generously sized. However for the price we felt the trio of desserts was incredibly basic. A real shame since the rest was so enjoyable.

We had Sunday lunch at Down Hall and I was expecting great things to come but felt very let down by everything. Our first impression on arrival was a grand building but a very small entrance with reception in a corner which was hardly noticeable. No one greeted us so we followed the signage to the Grille Room only to be met by a grumpy man who showed us to our table. I had to ask for a dustpan and brush to be brought as there was so many crumbs on the floor, the grumpy man said someone had just left and had made a mess but he moved us rather than clear it up. The dining room was again small compared to the size of the building and had a few table taken but there was no atmosphere. We order drinks and our lunch which I though was good value at £25 for 3 courses however the beef looked lovely but was tough and stringy, starters and desserts though were ok. During our visit I found the staff not very attentive they just did what they had to and disappeared through the kitchen door. No once while we were there did anyone clear the mess up on the floor by the original table we were offered ! Would we go back ?? No I donât think so

Tapas, Nibbles, mezze, appetisers - whatever you want to call it, numerous plates of tapas are a great way to taste new foods. Tapas is more than just food; sharing small plates at any time of the day is how we connect. All of our dishes are freshly prepa
4 adults and 3 kids had a lovely lunch. Iâd walked past this unassuming little place a few times and wondered about it. We had two set menus and the kids ordered individual dishes. Great value, hearty sized portions. The kids loved the mocktails & we had a cheeky cocktail too.We will definitely return.Very attentive waitress.Would recommend booking as itâs quite a small place.

Visited this charming little restaurant to celebrate a birthday. To save time we had decided on steak or chicken piri piri as the main courses. Food was plentiful and of a good standard and staff were very attentive throughout the evening. Despite the fact that they had only just taken over the establishment and this was the largest party they had dealt with (25 persons) they coped very well. Would definitely return again when in the areaSo glad to hear you enjoyed your dinner here, Southender2013! Thanks for checking us out and taking the time to share. Hope to see you again when back in town!

Host Grill is situated in the Corn Exchange building, a fantastic local restaurant with delicious food and great service. Host Bar is upstairs for drinks and DJ until 2am.
My first visit to Host Grill last night and I was really pleased. A nice welcome, cool and funky decor (loving the green snakeskin chairs). Nice varied wine list with a few unusual items. Service was friendly, efficient, and all in all just right.I had monkfish cheeks for starter which was lovely, and fillet steak for main which was excellent too. I opted for Host sauce which was an unusual but very tasty alternative to the usual options, plus the waitress said that if I didn't like it she would gladly bring me another. Superb. My wife had asparagus with duck egg for starter and gnocchi for main, both of which were delicious and a generous portion size.A shared dessert of chocolate trifle didn't disappoint either with a nice boozy kick waiting at the bottom.Top food, top service, top evening.I look forward to returning. Thanks for your review. Just changed our starters and mains over to a new summer menu, main courses to follow this week. Hope to see you again soon.

Date night with the Mrs and as we had to pick up a teenager round the corner, we decided to eat here. Not my first visit and definitely not my last. I love this place. A Tudour building which has been tastefully decorated inside in keeping with the age of the building. Very helpful staff and great cocktails. The extensive menu is reasonably priced and the food was delicious. I recommend the cold meze starter. Itâs really great. The main courses were piping hot and very tasty. We were too full to attempt desserts!

There are several restaurants, including the usual chains in Bishopâs Stortford serving Italian food. Cibo is a family run restaurant and itâs very refreshing to eat here.Itâs probably our favourite restaurant in Bishopâs Stortford, great atmosphere, lovely staff and great food, which is always freshly cooked and delicious. On Fridays and Saturdays, there is always a specials menu, in addition to the main one. The portions are generous and we usually share a dessert. The service is always friendly and unrushed.I would recommend and it will continue to be a regular haunt of ours. Hello kin, thank you for you kind review. We are so glad you enjoy coming to cibo!
