We spent one night at the Intercontinental just outside the O.R.Tambo Int'l airport in Johannesburg. Lovely hotel. Terrific restaurant. We had lunch, dinner, and breakfast during our stay. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted even better. The wait staff was cheerful, courteous,and knew their menu well. We were impressed with every aspect of each meal. The chef actually came out to visit with the diners and ask their thoughts on the dinner meal. Breakfast was an extensive and beautifully presented buffet, however, we did have in our "package" breakfast off the menu as well. The eggs benedict was excellent. Although I had already my fill from the scrmptuous buffet! Great place to eat...and to stay...when travelling to other destinations in Africa.

They have now moved to The Lakes golf course. This Sunday is their last. Very disappointing as it has been an institution at 1 Moth Place. Alas - very good food and atmosphere being changed for a new venue. Let us see how they progress. I will write a review on their new venue in due course.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast at The Shades this weekend. I chose a Breakfast Bread Basket - a huge potbread, flesh scooped out, and filled to the brim with creamy scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato... And covered with a bread crust lid. It was a big portion, the filling perfectly spiced, and probably enough for two people. Service was excellent, the setting in the garden peaceful and quiet. I wholeheartedly recommend this coffee shop as great value for money.

Very very disappointed. What was once a great restaurant as been allowed to go downhill. Understaffed. Every course we tried to order was missing something. At the end of the evening tried to order cocktails and ingredients missing. Ended the evening early because we got tired of being let down. Manager wasnât bothered as he felt it was the owners fault.

I am not a great take-away fan but when I am in the mood, it is normally Nandos as it is a fairly healthy alternative. I have been to this restaurant more than five times in the last two years. I always know what to expect and get the same great quality every time.

I love Portuguese food and Portugal restaurants food is very good. It has become a weekly visit for us. I highly recommend the restuarant. Prawns, calamari and Bacalhau are amazing.

Had by far the most horrible experience last night. Waited more than an hour for our food, only got the food after complaining twice. Food utterly disgusting, food were cold, chips oily, steak looked as if it was done in a microwave. On top of it all, owner missing in action and nowhere to be found.

The food was very good, as it was rainy outside they lit the fireplace, which was very cosy, love to eat at a beautiful restaurant with nice table settings, nice decor and feel of the place. Our waiter was good and there is no complains with the service, all the dishes that we ordered was nice.Thank you for your kind review!

I love the dispensers that dispense wine and other drinks. We all ordered gin and tonics and got them in a dispenser with all the garnish, though I would have preferred my own double with sugar free tonic!We all ordered half portions, because the portions were just too big. Less is more sometimes. We were still charged full price for the dishes. The room where we were eating was very dingy and quite depressingI liked the cheese being grated on our pasta at the table, though question if it was real parmesan, as the texture and flavour were not of parmesan as I know it.Good evening, thank you for your detailed review. The Gin tower's are only made on order by the customer, which choose their favourite Gin and their tonic preference,was the tower perhaps ordered by another guest at the table, as we would have served all the Gin's individually as per order with a sugar free tonic.Regarding the charge of full portions, i would like to look in to this, please would you be so kind to email me that bill,as only the management can place the order and over ride the system to order half portions. I had stopped going to this restaurant because of poor service and food, but returned because of the wonderful kids area. What a surprise, as our service was excellent - drinks and food served quickly and pleasantly by our waiter, Weezie, and our steaks and prawn and calamari were on point, and reasonably priced. But the tonic mixes at R28 are way over-overpriced, given the gin at a decent R18.00
