Called in to the H social club for lunch on a lovely sunny Thursday and we were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked through the gate in to the garden , The dog was also welcomed enthusiastically and we were seated in a nice area of the garden overlooking the stream. The service here is wonderful and we were looked after superbly by the whole team all afternoon and our pup was made dog of the day and became famous on Instagram. The drinks are good but there is not a wide choice and no draught beer , so I sampled a few bottles of Estrella which was excellent , the missus had a pot of Earl grey. The food here is superb , cooked fresh to order from the best local ingredients , I had the Steak special with roast tomatoes , fried eggs , home made chips and home made chimichurri sauce which was beautiful. the best steak I have had in a long time. The missus had the Halloumi and portobello burger which she said was equally delightful. We then decided to treat ourselves to the home made waffles for dessert , which were also really good. What a lovely place this is with a great atmosphere , lovely people who look after you and superb food and drink at reasonable prices. We had a great afternoon and will definitely return.

Nestled within the heart of the Peak District, we serve only the best spirits, as well as Bakewell's very own Thornbridge beers and a variety of carefully selected champagnes, along with local, seasonal products (Oh, did we mention our one-of-a-kind open-
Popped into this charming restaurant in Bakewell for dinner. The menu is centre around tapas style dishes and pizzas (cooked to order in the pizza oven). We opted for pizza and were not disappointed. Junipers also boasts a huge gin selection and we had great fun sampling a few. The guy who served was really friendly and the place has a really good feel. Highly recommend.

A perfect spot for visiting the Peak National Park, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. The Peacock is located in the small, pretty village of Rowsley. We serve delicious food both lunch and dinner in the warm and cosy surroundings of our atmospheric bar. O
Itâs the kind of place you go for a special occasion. For us, it was visiting with a very dear friend. She loves to go there, and so do we when we stay in nearby Darley Dale. Very swish, with top shelf service. In an elegant setting, too. They have a three course âlighterâ lunch menu for £24. Some lovely choices, served with a side of bread with the crispest crusts. Mushroom soup, croquettes, terrine...great start. Fish and (hand cut) chips, braised lamb shoulder, cauliflower cheese...yumMille feuille, creme Catalan, tart of the day...great finish. Itâs no bargain but you get what you pay for. Look forward to next time.

Not eaten/ stayed for a while. Lovely country hotel and today we revisited for Sunday Lunch. The best! In the evenings the main restaurant is far too exotic for my tastes, however Sunday lunch features normal fayre- delicious roast beef, glorious beetroot soup, excellent deserts. All accompanied by glorious views over the Chatsworth Estate.

We booked a few days in the Peak District to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were looking for a recommended restaurant for dinner.Piedaniels got so many positive reviews that we decided to try it and were not disappointed.Owner and staff were very friendly and the food was excellent, our starters and main meals consisted of high quality, fresh ingredients. We enjoyed all of the dishes but must mention the lamb wellington which was delicious. We did not have desserts as the portions were fairly generous and reasonably priced.I would highly recommend this restaurant, I just wish it was closer to our home town as it would be our âgo to restaurant â

This was my final Sunday lunch at this wonderful hotel because the business is closing on 29 September 2019. Every meal has been exceptional, the ambience of the dining room and the professional service from the servers always contributed to a perfect dining experience. My family have celebrated memorable birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions and we will struggle to find another venue to match the unique Hassop Hall Hotel. So sad to say goodbye - we will miss you.

The Prince of Wales Village Pub and Restaurant sits on the edge of the beautiful Chatsworth Estate in the pretty village of Baslow. Our passion is fresh, seasonal food using local ingredients in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. The bar is a great place
Visited here for a late Sunday lunch with friends. The welcome into the venue was very warm and pleasant, we arrived about 25 mins earlier than our booking with no expectations of being seated immediately and said as much. Despite this our expectations were very well managed with seats immediately being made available for a drink and bar service prompt and attentive. Our table was made available to us bang on our 2pm booking time. On the website its is hard to determine if on a Sunday they do anything other than a roast but as it is there is a very good choice including two roast meats and light bites should you want them. We all started with whitebait - and I have to say (and I rarely do) that this was possibly the best white bait I have every had which really is going an extra mile in comment since I love white bait and have it regularly. It came with an aioli and garlic sauce and beautiful accompanying salad. The garlic was beautifully subtle - I normally avoid garlic dishes since the current trend seems to be to smoother food in garlic to the point that is the only taste you get. This was absolutely not the case it was delightful and beautifully presented. For mains two of us ordered roast beef and the other the steak and ale pie. I was pleased to hear on ordering that the default position was pink but that if requested I could ask for very pink (red.) First grouch announcement - they serve topside of beef.... now call me a beef snob but this is just the same as every darned Sunday lunch in the area... blasted cheap meat! I would rather pay £10 more for the cost of my lunch and have a lovely piece of sirloin of beef than topside or even worse. I appreciate that this is the "people's choice" when buying their own meat but its inferior and generally tough and fairly tasteless. The steak knives you are brought always give the game away but I am glad they did! I just do not think people get what good meat tastes like and of course the venue has to provide a menu that will bring the punters in! The time lapse between courses was absolutely spot on. Enough time to relax and contemplate how delicious the starter had been and of course glug another glass of wine! Our mains arrived - well the pie looked well like a pie with chips but was piping hot and pronounced delicious which coming from my "nothing is every right" friend was high praise indeed. The roasts were beautifully presented with the veg and roast potatoes tucked under the two hearty slices of beef and not one of those wretched giant Yorkshire puds that most places seem to favour but an in betweeny sized one. The meat was pink as described (no red as I had hoped and been promised.) BUTGrouch warning 2 - the roast meals were well cold! Tepid at the most and the plates cold. Now I am not one for not saying what I find at the time, why would I grumble on here without saying my bit at the time - well I wouldn't. So despite protestations from my friend who would actually buy a new car and get it home to find it had no wheels and still not complain, I quietly complained. With no fuss our plates were taken away to be re-served. Hmmm, my friend and I laughed when I said they would probably bung them in the microwave and have done with us.... In actual fact what came back was red hot plates, slightly warmer veg and gravy and cold Yorkshire puds. In my view not acceptable but out of respect to my friend, difference and a convivial meal I made the observation to the waitress but left it at that. I of course ate all my food despite its lukewarm state - it was jolly tasty despite the temperature and the tough meat which was actually tastier than most pieces of topside. I only eat one meal a day and my previous meal had been some 30 hours previous - I am afraid I gave up and just ate, ate! Even the darned carrots were tasty! But the Yorkshire pud was grim cold! So why have I rated this place as very good - well because despite the tepid food the cooking, taste, ambience and lovely staff are certainly well worth another try. And my dogs are going to love it - my friend who only eats a little for health reasons only had about three bites of her cold meat (too tough to slip down I guess) so the restaurant manager of the day packed it up in foil for my doggy kids at home. Its going to soak for 24 hours because I do not let my dogs have human food but they are going to love it and I loved the attitude of the manager of the day who sadly is leaving in a couple of weeks time after 13 years of service there. I hope they find someone as good as her as a replacement. We will be back and I hope next time I can have a piping hot meal that lives up to the good cooking that these people do, the chefs are talented albeit working to a budget. Please don't ruin your skill by dishing it out cold. I appreciate that many people probably always have tepid meals but not in my family and certainly not when serving others. BUT I am still giving you a good rating because I can taste and see that you are very good so despite the long hours you must work remember customer and food first - your hot bath and exhaustion second!Hi Jaca100,Wow! What a read! Thank you for spending so much time on your review. I see from many of your other reviews you are a stickler for perfection. I am glad we scored high on your agenda. I shall naturally check with our Chef the couple of pints you mention. It is quite unusual to hear this. All the very best, I do hope we see you again in the near future. Tom

We were out and about with friends and just popped in for coffee and cake. Lovely welcome and lovely atmosphere for a Saturday morning. Coffee was excellent and the Bakewell and flapjack were delicious. Would love to go back to sample the food soon

Welcome to Fischerâs Baslow Hall, our award-winning, individual, stylish, boutique country house hotel and restaurant. The location could hardly be more stunning. A Grade 2 listed, stone-built manor house standing on the edge of Baslow, a picturesque vill
We enjoyed our meal here. We were on a 2 night package with one evening meal at Rowley's the gastropub associated with the hotel (Hotel and Gastropub reviewed separately). I've just listed fro my own edification the 11 1 and 2 star restaurants we've eaten at in the last 6 or so years. Against that basis I think Fischers just scrapes in to the 1 star category (but only just!). We had the Summer Tasting menu with a bottle of what was probably the cheapest rose
