Find out what European restaurants to try in Barna. Bearna (anglicized as Barna) is a coastal village in Connemara, west of Galway city in County Galway, Ireland, on the R336 regional road. Once a satellite of Galway city, the village is now rapidly becoming one of its suburbs. Officially, the village is regarded as Irish speaking and is therefore a constituent part of the regions of Ireland that make up the Gaeltacht. However, because of its absorption into the city, it has recently become a mainly English speaking village. Nonetheless, Irish is still the main language of its western and northern hinterland and the village has now effectively become the gateway to the largest Irish speaking region in the country

fun casual dining where we take the food part very serious and the service part fun. We are very passionate about what we do and it shows
This is a lovely location with nice staff. The sandwich menu is excellent and enjoyable. Night times are very quiet and this is a great pity. Galway is not the place for night time sandwiches. Down the road you have Wooza, always full while Dough Bros across the street is full as is Venice. Why??? They do great pizza , you can do that too. Glad youâve brightened up the place , now change the menu , youâve a great location and staff. Go take on the competition

We had lunch here our first day in Galway as we were staying in the Salthill area. We were so impressed with our lunch as both of our meals were wonderful and the service was impeccable. Since we enjoyed it so much for lunch we decided to go there the next evening for dinner and this time had a mediocre experience. The service was spotty and the food was just ok. It was so disappointing as we totally loved it the first time. So with a five for lunch and a three for dinner - this ended up being a four.

I am a repeat customer of this restaurant and after a pre Christmas night out last year when we experienced poor service, I hastily wrote a review to complain..almost a year on and after several wonderful dining experiences since, I want to compliment all at BlackCat. The staff are superb and very attentive, food is just so delicious, gambas,Calamari, black pudding croquettes are amongst our favourites. Last night although very busy, the staff were on their toes and the buzz and atmosphere were just great...you could tell looking around that everyone was enjoying themselves. This is a cosy wonderful place and a must eat gourmet experience when in Galway...along with many locals you will see visitors from all over the globe. Special thanks to Mai and Esther....looking forward to returning soon.D&D Motley

We were a walk in party of 3 at 7:30pm on a Wednesday evening and no problem getting a table. All our food was excellent - sea bass, chicken with Gorgonzola, pizza, tiramisu. Service friendly and speedy without being rushed. Definitely a good decision to try this out and we could be back again tomorrow!

Good food, good selection on the menu, but it's pub grub.Pub is not the cleanest, sticky tables, tables are small and a lot stools not chairs.Disinterested waiting staff.Stairs everywhere, down to toilets and up to seating. If you want a quick meal with a pint, it's fine.

Had a delicious meal here. Portions were great, good price value, fresh fresh food. Sauces not too heavy, recommend roast chicken if they have it or the darn of salmon. Wine list is reasonably priced. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed, we waited about 30 minutes for our check, but food was prompt.Warm and inviting decor, beautiful patio if weather permits.

Impromptu Midweek meal out, we were seated upstairs overlooking the bay. Glorious view!! Utterly delicious fresh prawns, hake and plaice with generous portion of homemade breads, chips, potatoes and vegetables on the side. Friendly subtle service throughout. Too full to do anything but look at the dessert menu. A great reason to come back again!

Award winning Upstairs at WEST restaurant is located in beautiful Barna,Galway on The Wild Atlantic Way in one of the most luxurious boutique hotels, The Twelve. West features innovative dishes that highlight the region and the season's best ingredients.
We had the tasting menu which was excellent however they appeared to be short staffed. Waiting staff were almost running between tables and different people brought different courses. Some were able to explain each course while others just dropped it and ran. Not great on pouring the drinks either. I got a large Perrier and it was just deposited on the table beside me unopened!
