The name is credited to the Brahmin immigrants who migrated to the Konkan via Magadha in Gangetic India from Āryāvarta, in the north-western part of the Indian sub-continent. Bardez or more properly Bara (twelve) desh (country) means "twelve countries" (or lands). The form "country" probably refers to clan territorial limits, or to the Brahmin comunidades, of which the twelve, in no particular order, are Aldona, Moira, Olaulim, Nachinola, Siolim, Anjuna, Candolim, Serula, Saligao, Sangolda, Assagao and Pomburpa

A lovely Restaurant with nice clean Toilets and Premises. Excellent food and Service. Nice tasty food although quite spicy for some tastes so ask for mild if in doubt. Quite a busy place so may need to book in advance. Prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere was friendly and comfortable.

We recently visited the Mermaid after seeing the reviews in Trip Advisor. We were greeted by the owner who made us feel very welcome. The restaurant was nicely laid out. We ordered the surf and turf, the steak was beautifully cooked, the accompaniments were great and overall the food was excellent. The owner came over to chat about the history of the restaurant and could not be more friendly. A lovely evening with great good.

Went there after seeing the amazing rating it had on TripAdvisor and it was an awesome decision! My favorite meal from my trip to Goa! Went there without a reservation (definitely advise making a prior reservation) - the place was packed so we were first given a table next to the kitchen door. However, we were very soon shifted to a much better location. The food was amazing! I'm usually not a fan of Gnocchi however on the waiters recommendation I had it and it was outstanding! A must try! Great service too!

Jamies is a cab ride from baga beach around 300 rupees.The menu is quite extensive and will suit all needs and tastes with traditional sausage and mash to a typical Goan curry. Our food was served very quickly, I had chicken curry, rice with cheese & garlic nan it was a perfect sized portion and hotness. (they ask how hot you would like it) My fellow traveler had prawn curry and they were as equally satisfied with their meal. The staff were very attentive and pleasant. they do a nice selection of cocktails but we shared a bottle of house wine @1900 rupess (In Goa wine is expensive in comparison to the UK) only downside for me personally was lack of ambiance maybe some back ground music would change that. We could hear every customers conversations.

went back to Sumiens Kitchen after a 3 yr break, food and service is still second to none, We had a meal for 3 Steak and all trimmings, 3 drinks each , 2 sweet dishes and a Brandy coffee, all for small sum of around £30. Jardin never fails to surprise us with itâs romantic ambience and amazing food. Weâve been coming here since the last three years and have even stayed on the premises once. Both veg and non-veg dishes are wholesome and delicious. The owner Gilbert adds his personal touch always. The river across the road is the perfect setting for a romantic dinner or lunch. We heard about this restaurant from a family friend and decided to check it out. We were not disappointed. We were greeted immediately and shown to our table. The staff were very attentive. I ordered Beef Wellington and my husband a pork chop. An apperitive was brought to our table.The food took about 20 minutes to arrive but was worth waiting for. The presentation was perfect and the taste was just what I had hoped for.For desert I chose Pavlova.Thank you Gwen for your wonderful review.
