We came here because of many good reviews!!! All we wanted to have was sushi. We arrived around 21.oo and all the sushi plates were empty. So we waited for 15 minutes and a small tray arrived. But it was not sushi. It was a tray full of dry maki. The rice was so dry that I had to use a lot of water to swollow it down. The maki consist out of lots of rice and a very small piece of salmon (which u almost couldn't see). Not to foeget the wasabi!!!!!!!!! We all know the good ceamy wasaby.... hers u get frozen wasabi !!!!!!!The next thing were the dumplings which just did not arrived. I had to asked 3 times the waitress until it finally came. The rest of the food was just full in oil!!!! The only good thing was the rare buffet. Good choice of fish which the chef is preparing in front if u!!To sum up:Dont go there if u are looking for sushi!!!!!If u want oily fat food and fish....go!!!! For me: never ever again!!!! I was really disappointed!!!

Villa Esedra is a beautiful property overlooking the seafront in Avola, where you can enjoy excellent dishes of fish or meat and a great pizza.
The fact that this restaurant is highly rated on TA despite only one other English review to date says a lot.We were staying in Syracuse in May 2015, and on a trip out were looking for a good restaurant with a sea view. There didn't seem to be many of these, but Villa Esedra fitted the bill, with an attractive terrace looking out to the sea. Family run - Mum cooks, Dad looks after the bar, their son serves (though I bet they need more staff in high season, especially as they have a huge function marquee behind the resto).Great for seafood, risotto and pasta, and reasonable pricesDear customer ,thank you for your review .If planning another vacation in Sicily we will be happy to receive you again in our restaurant .Greetings,Villa Esedra

Really good service, lovely waiter. Burrata was amazing to start, and all other courses were great. 2 of our party wanted something not on the menu and this was accommodated perfectly. All courses great and 10 euro bottle of wine was superb. Cant fault anything from our visit.

You have try the raviolis with swordfish and pistachio sauce … just amazing!!! We also had smoked tuna and swordfish as antipasti and they were delicious. I definitely recommend this place.

Very modern interior but not necessarily comfortable. We chose to sit outside and risk the mosquitoes. Food was good, attentive and friendly service although it got a bit lax as the restaurant got crowded. May be because there was only one waiter who could speak English. My fritto misto was presented well. Nice and crispy but the mayonnaise and the sweet chiili sauce served were out of bottles. My husband's salmon tartar was also good but the highlight was definitely the dessert pistachio mousse. Good selection of local wines at reasonable prices.

The food is good but I have tasted equally tasty food elsewhere and definitely wasn't expecting rotten produce as per photo. Was disappointed that despite making a reservation, we were seated just right next to a very noisy establishment. It was so noisy we could barely hold a conversation without raising our voices. Not impressed at all.
