Best known as the birthplace of St. Francis, Italy's patron saint, Assisi lies amid Umbria's rolling hills. Religious pilgrims have come here for centuries to visit the Basilica of San Francesco (where St. Francis is buried) and the Basilica of Santa Chiara (to see the tomb of St. Clare). Visit the Eremo delle Carceri to see caves where medieval hermits withdrew from the world. (You may find such solitude quite appealing—especially if you're here on a daytrip from Rome!)

Simply amazing. I'm always a little leery of "fine dining" restaurants when I'm abroad but this restaurant was exceptional. The service was attentive but not overbearing and the food was delicious. Extremely fresh and yet not over-seasoned. The beauty of each ingredient shown through. It's not cheap but I've paid more for worse meals. It's worth every penny.

We stopped at this restaurant on our way home from Rome, hot, tired, and unsure of what we would eat. The food is magnificent. I had a caprese mousse that was so delicious I can still taste it. This is definitely worth a stop if you are anywhere near the area.

Had a lovely margarita pizza here and it was only five euros. The place was quite empty but got busier when I was there, I really enjoyed the pizza, tasty tomato base and lovely mozerella and it tasted like it was cooked with nice oil and of course it was served with a smile. I would definitely go back again.

Located in the square behind main street. We took plate of local ham and cheese for starter. It is enough for two. For main course we selected gnocchi al Sagrantinio and tortellini with truffles. Of course local wine and water. For desert cheesecake and tiramisu (don't take it, not good). Price was â¬60. Now about service - you can wait ages for them, but could appoint traditional Umbria food.Dear clients,Thank you very much for your comment. We always try to do our best, but I hope you understand we always serve our food as fresh as it can be, and that's why when there are many clients, it's reasonable to wait for 20 mins more or less, afterall we are not serving fast food :) . About the tiramisù, we do it in a light way without mascarpone so that clients can enjoy it without worrying too much the heavy fat the traditional one contains, maybe there was some communciation missed that made it a bit unclear. I hope next time you can enjoy another dessert which tastes more closed to your expectation. Once again thank you for your comment and look forward to seeing you again and wish you a beautiful day! Best regards,

Un ristorante storico elegante ma sportivo che permette servizi di alta qualità in un'ambientazione di pregio, mantendendo un rapporto con i Nostri amici, professionalmente confidenziale.
Five of us had dinner here, and it was a nice experience. The restaurant is in an historic building. Spacing between tables is wide making for good conversation and low noise level. Our group split as to the entrees, with several people ordering the pappardelle with wild boar ragu, and others going with the roasted suckling pig. Both were good, but the pig was the favorite with moist meat and crispy skin.We were split again for desserts with some ordering the nougat semi-freddo, and others the dark chocolate brownie. Again, we shared and agreed all were very good and probably the best part of the dinner. The house wines were good and a great value. At the end of the night we agreed that it was a good dinner, but not the five star experience the reviews had us hoping for.

Reserve a table here for incredible views, great service and delicious food! Our waiter recommended a very good (but not top priced) local wine which we enjoyed. He also was honest about our food choices which was much appreciated. The food was presented beautifully, smelled so good and tasted heavenly! Between the views, church bells and food all your senses will be pleased!

Lunch was priced reasonably and was delicious. Service was excellent. They gave a gift to the ladies. It's an excellent restaurant to eat at while waiting for the train.

Restaurant with panoramic terraces
This restaurant had fantastic views and location (just up the hill from the Basilica di San Francesco). The staff was friendly, spoke english, and was helpful to first timers to Italy that needed help with menu items. Food was excellent and I would highly recommend to any one. Great classic Tuscan fare including a delicious Cinghiale stew!

My wife and I toured several cities in Italy for our 22nd. wedding anniversary and asked the locals for a nice and good ristorante. We booked dinner for the first night and we were so delighted by their food that we booked lunch the very next day prior to our departure. This ristorante has a five-star service; spectacular food and incredibly intimate ambience. If you are in Asissi, you must visit this gem.
