A lovely restaurant and wine shop in the small village of Montpeyroux. We have enjoyed meals there on previous visits to Montpeyroux, but this time the food was even more outstanding. My grilled prawns with lobster bisque appetizer goes down as one the best appetizers I have ever tasted (see photo). This was followed by low temperature cooked pork loin, which almost melted in the mouth. This was accompanied by splendidly efficient service by the single waitress, who seemed to be able to be everywhere at once. There is also a vast array of mostly local wines, all at very reasonable prices. And if you like it you can order a bottle or two to take home.We enjoyed our meal so much we reserved again for later in the week. When we arrived, however, we found a notice that said the restaurant was âexceptionellementâ closed. They made no effort to contact us, which is very poor customer management. So if you go, call ahead to make sure they are open, even if you have a reservation. I almost knocked a star off for this, but decided the food was so good I would stay with five.

We decided to go to the beautiful village of St Guilhem le desert on an impulse, so hadn't decided where to eat. That was easily decided when we saw this restaurant with an eating deck perched 100' above the Herault river (which is also great for canoeing on!).We all had the Bistrot menu of a salad and main course - and all by chance selected the tarragon chicken - nice and succulent and very flavourful. The choice on this menu was limited, but there should be something for all tastes. We had excellent service throughout and the owner was very friendly - being early in the year the village was not populated by tourists, so we had a great day out - not sure what it will be like in August :)I would definitely recommend coming to this village, and also to this restaurant.

Traditional Mediterranean cooking.
Waiters are all lovely - friendly and helpful - happy to speak English but also very pleasant if you want to make them suffer your appalling attempts at their language. Manager clearly has his own opinion of the English, which only perpetuates the stereotypical view of the non chalant Frenchman - Iâm not looking for American style service but a smidge more humanity and a smidge less âgruffâ wouldnât do any harm. The whole village is v expensive, given its âheritageâ status and the prices at this place are no exception. Food is better than at some of the other restaurants here.Food was simple but very nice. Foie gras, smoked trout - all good. Cuttlefish was tasty. Pleasant side vegetables. Nice grilled steak. Pudding good. Coffee tasted of coffee! ...unlike the cafe in the main square which tasted of nothing.Location is lovely - beautiful stone courtyard. Definitely recommend.

We ate excellent pizzas here and it was convenient that we could arrive quite late (around 9 pm). Fair prices.

The place is "okay", nothing more, nothing less.We ate something there, which wasn't memorable, we drank something, which wasn't extraordinary. The staff is friendly but not going out of their way for you.

We arrived in Gignac after 1pm, out of summer season, on a cold windy but sunny day having visited Guilherm le Desert and not seen anywhere there we fancied eating. We hurried in here thinking we might be too late, this is rural France after all. We were warmly welcomed, a water bowl for our dog was provided before I could get my own out of my bag and before we were offered apéritifs. Dog very happy! Good choice of interesting food delightfully served in generous quantities. Folk arriving after us were cheerfully seated and served too, even those arriving nearer 2pm.

2 adresses pur le même établissement : O'BISTROT en intérieur pour l'hiver au 3 Grand chemin du Val de Gellone O'BISTROT en terrasse pour l'été au 14bis rue Cor de Nostra Dona
We came on a rainy Sunday. Got in just ahead of the crowd. The owner waitress was great fun. Wonderful food. Lamb's brains? Yes and good. Great selection of food and wine. Great for families. The town is unreal. I would come again and stay for weeks. YUM!!

Astonishingly, first week of September and on a Thursday lunchtime we were the only customers. I had mullet followed by cheesecake both of which were fine. Closes at 1.30pm so we felt a bit rushed having arrived at 12.45pm. Very nice wine. 18 Euros for mains and dessert.

We stopped here for lunch en route to Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert. We rarely order burgers in Europe since they are almost always bad. But we had read good reviews about the ones here. They did not disappoint. They were hand-made, juicy, and cooked to order (rare.) The pomme frites were also delicious. A carafe of of the house red was also a pleasant surprise. Service was very good in spite of the language barrier. Would highly recommend this place. Wish we could have sat outside but it was just too windy.
