Dieter and his crew offer menu and the card at normal prices in a container construction out of the city of Veurne. It's a special accomodation, and service and food is gentle and fine. We had on 07/01 both the daily soup, "the filet américain house" and drinks. Belgian fries. No dessert. (37,50 â¬). I went back on 24/01 alone and had the daily soup and the steak-béarnaise and Belgian Fries, with a cola. All very good, quickly but fresh served. (20,10 â¬). We'll return.

Traditionele herberg, regionale gerechten, landelijke omgeving, waar voor je geld
Very rural Flemish restaurant, not far off the main road. Super friendly and good menu, Menu of the day (soup and a main plus tea/coffee around â¬15). A regular stop for us on our way back on Mondays (when most restaurants are closed), nice outdoor area too. Pretty much a ideal restaurant/cafe.

Dish of the day was a beautifully cooked Dover sole meuniere, came with chips & a bit of salad. We started with garlic prawns - loads of lovely garlic & parsley butter to mop with the soft deep brown slices of bread, but the freshwater prawns were not very large & unexciting in flavour. Freebie on arrival was a nice little toast with shrimp mayo on top. Ice cream made with speculoos crumbs in it gave a Flemish finish to a substantial meal washed down with Belgian beers - there is a long beer list. If you ask for water it comes bottled unless you are quick to specify tap, and pour the beer yourself if you don't want a big head on it.

We learned to know this restaurant thanks to the "bongobon" we received. It is a perfect entry to getting to know the restaurant. It is a steak restaurant which focuses on quality meat. And quality has a price but it remains very reasonable. The quality is there indeed and the meat is really delicious. Also the house wine is very good and in my point of view the house wine says a lot of the quality of the restaurant. Also on this point the restaurant provides a very good standard. (Probably because a wine shop is part of the restaurant and so knowledge and quality is present).Service is perfect with a humouristic taste of the owner and the location is very rustic and in the city centre of Furnes.A place we will certainly return to when we want high quality steak.Apart of sundays when the restaurant opens at noon, the restaurant is only open in the evening, which might make reservation a bit difficult during the day. But in our case we were called back and reservation was easy.

As per the previous poster, a seven strong family group visited De Plakker to celebrate my wife's birthday. Looks like I chose well. The whole experience from start to finish was superb. Great choice of beers, well presented and cooked food, and perfect service from the hosts. Cannot fault it, though by UK standards (and due to the pathetic value of the £ these days,) you would not call it a cheap option !

A delightful meal with exceptional starters and and excellent main. Attention to detail is high on the agenda at this lovely restaurant overlooking the town square. Helpful staff who made a couple of English visitors very much at home with a detailed explanation of the menu, perhaps this is why we thought the food so good as it was what we expected. Either way it was cooked to perfection and tases to to remember for all of the right reasons. Wine by the glass was very reasonable and the Pomerol fantastic.c value.Sadly no room for a dessert but if they are as half as good as the food we did eat we missed a treat.
