Stopped in for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised by the great service and delicious food. I ordered the brie sandwhich, because brie, and the baguette it was served on was dynamite and the brie was perfect. My husband had the lunch deal for $15 and got veggie soup, salad, iced tea and the croque monsuier, he liked my sandwich better though! We'd definitely come back!

Organic German Slow Food. Handcrafted with Love. Largest German beer and wine selection in the East Bay.
This is the best German food I've ever had, including during several years when I lived in Germany. Everything is very fresh, authentic, made from scratch and by hand. From wonderful appetizers to scrumptious desserts, you absolutely can't go wrong...everything I've ever had there is wunderbar. And the wine and beer offerings are also excellent.

My visit was actually in September 2012, but the "when did you visit?" field only goes back 12 months. That said, this was my first time here. I arrived early and about the same time as one of my friends. The bartender took care of two of us as we waited for the rest of our group. When everyone arrived the seven of us were promptly seated by the front window. They have an eclectic menu that reflects mainly European and American influences with some Mediterranean, North African and Asian diversions. For the most part their menu is not to my liking, but everyone wanted to go here. And really, I wanted to get together with my friends, so the food was secondary. We ordered a couple of green salads for the table. They came lightly dressed in a delicious lemon and olive oil dressing. For my main, I ordered from their "dinner specials" menu the lamb tagine with apricots, served over couscous. It was okay, a little on the salty side for my taste and the spicing in the sauce was a somewhat muddy. Around the table my friends ordered the grilled salmon, rib-eye steak, pork chops, roast chicken.Their prices are reasonable and portions are generous. Service was good, our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. After the table was cleared, we sat and continued to chat while finishing our wine. It had been some time since we last saw each other and we probably had 3-4 different conversations going at the table. We were probably loud, too. This is where it gets funny.Apparently, our volume bothered one of the patrons to the point that he barked in the dining room at the top of his lungs to "BE QUIET!!!" We all turned around to see two old men sitting at a table maybe 10-15 feet away. The guy who yelled had his eyes spinning in their sockets, he looked so crazed. He startled some of the customers, while others looked amused. The bartender sort of rolled her eyes, none of the other staff paid much attention which made me think he was probably a regular. The manager didn't even go to the table after his outburst. We stifled our laughter and went back to our multiple conversations. So, Britt-Marie's is off my "Restaurant Crawl of Solano Avenue" list and moving on to the next one.
