De Vrijheid offers their guests delicious and fair dishes. Made with the most beautiful local products. On a location where you can taste the seasons in all its elements. Where we are honoured to receive you. Not a classical menu, but more attention to pr
De Vrijheid is located right smack on the waterfront in Grouw and the best way to get there is have the restaurant pick you up by boat. There is a huge terrace and a small play area for the kids. The terrace has an amazing view but the tables are set up very basic with ugly tablecloths. They could do a lot more with this terrace. However the inside looks much better but in summertime you would want to sit outside. The menu covers local specialities and local produce and we actually had a nice dinner. I was especcialy impressed with the desserts. See pictures. However I had a hard time choosing what to eat as there were things like eel and local stuff I am not really into. But what I finally ordered was really good.

I took my wife to the Golden Lion to celebrate her birthday and we were very pleased with both the quality of the service and food. We both had starters of hot prawns in garlic butter...very delicious. My wife had the 'special' fish of 3 sizeable Sliptong and I had an excellent 3 racks of Spare Ribs both with fries and cooked vegetables and salad.I have now noted the location on my marine chart and will return again another year.
Storm.
Gewoon, ongecompliceerd prettig

This restaurant is always full, no matter which day you may go - therefore we advise that a reservation should be made - Tel. 0566 689476. The food has always been very good, always served quickly and hot. Assorted side dishes of chips, potatoes, two vegetables and cooked rhubarb accompany all the meals. The fish has always been fresh (our favourite dish is the "sliptong" fish, three filets of fish served with Hollandaise sauce). The meat dishes are also very good. All the meals are very reasonably priced. The staff are always attentive and in a good mood,

I'm sorry to say, but it was a disaster. It was the first day they were open to the paying public. Everything went wrong. They need to regroup and start over. Couple of tips: Have a MUCH smaller menu. Start with simple dishes; staple items for a pancake menu. Ask the local clientele what they like. I am not sure if anyone is interested in a "Fricandel Sausage with Pancake"?? Or some exotic African pancake?? Make it much more kid friendly. And your prices are too high. At least start with introductory prices for a year. Remember, you are not at the Waterfront!!! So you will depend on the local clientele!Have recipe cards. Have a week or two of soft opening while increasing the volume. Ask honest feed-back. Training, training, training!! Know your SWOT !!On opening day it looked like a bunch of clueless amateurs playing restaurant! Clean up your image; get serious and become professional!

We stayed in Grou while on a boat trip. This is a small town without a lot of restaurants to pick from, so we were presently surprised by our experience at Amicaal. The food and service were very good, and the prices were reasonable. We particularly liked our waiter who was a young guy with a great personality. We would go back if ever in Grou.

My experience has been - thus far - only in the Summer, right on the terrace. It is just delightful. Service is always great and friendly. Food and drinks are very good. You can dock right in front of the Hotel Goerres / Oan 'e Boarn = same thing! Can't wait to try this place in the winter.

Picknickers is a beachrestaurant without a beach with a stunning view over the Sneekermeer. We focus on bio and comfort food in a laid-back setting where everbody feels at home.
It is not an overstatement but this place is a little paradise. Absolute best place I got to eat at during my two weeks in the Netherlands. Staff: enthusiastic, friendly and very professional. Setting: large bay window overlooking the edges of a lake and beautiful trees. Breakfast: nice plate with a good croissant, fresh egg and juice. Great coffee. Dinners: I went three times, pasta carbonara (can be vegetarian), zucchini soup, and / or a fish of the day that was cooked to perfection. Limited menu but prepared with love and with prime ingredients. Atmosphere: excellent music and friendly crowd. Absolutely recommended in every way possible. Excellent.

We had lunch here, which was OK. I had a salad with Frisian cheese, that was quite good! Service was a tad unfriendly. Apart from that I have no complaints!
