Maybe it doesn't look inviting, especially off the season, but food here is really tasty and fresh. Servings are quite big and prices are low.

Timari Fish Fryer

Reviewed By Ann-Grete T

The approach to this place is a bit daunting as it involves a single lane backroad, ending in a fairly steep downhill slope. But once you get there there is plenty of parking, a nice playground, and room for kids to run around. You can also approach from the Tisza river by boat, and park at a small dock. The food is ordered at a separate building, and consumed at covered tables above the water. It is served on big trays with no utensils (fingers only) and basically involves deep fried fish and French fries. People in the know call ahead to order and reserve a table: so be aware that although it looks like fast food, it isn't really (unless you ordered ahead). I enjoyed our pike perch (süllö) though my husband thought it was one small step below perfect (he's more of a connoisseur of freshwater fish) - just a little bit dry. We would definitely go back again and try the bream (keszeg) and the fisherman's Soup (halászlé). The setting and atmosphere were outstanding.
