Darlington is a large market town in County Durham, in North East England. With a population of 92,363 in 2011, the town lies on the River Skerne, a tributary of the River Tees. The town is administered as part of the Borough of Darlington. The town owes much of its development to the influence of local Quaker families in the Georgian and Victorian era, and who provided much of the finance and vision in creating the Stockton and Darlington Railway, the world's first steam locomotive powered, permanent passenger railway. This is a "very good" restaurant that isn't getting the reviews it should. I have frequented this restaurants 4 times in the past 6 weeks, and on each occasion I (we) have experienced very good quality food, very modern and nice surroundings, great staff; and enjoyed an excellent evening. The food is good, with a quality menu. Give it a go, you will enjoy your evening!

tried viraj restaurant in darlington for the first time tonight - it was amazing. 10/10. firstly, the food was perfect. started with poppadoms and dips...then had butter chicken, lamb rogan josh & shared some chips, keema rice and a cheese naan. so fresh, tasty and moreish. secondly, the staff were so lovely and chatty and genuinely cared about their business. thirdly, the restaurant is small and intimate with around 6 tables - which created a perfect atmosphere. itâs their 1st year anniversary next week & theyâre hosting a party on the sunday - look in to it as theyâre offering a really good deal. we canât go as weâre out for fireworks otherwise i would have defos gone back! loved it!

Visited a few times for a takeaway. Staff always friendly, food always of a high standard and prepared promptly. Very welcoming place and the staff always take time to talk whilst waiting. Will continue to use and would thoroughly recommend.

Went on Sunday night , 4 of us. Wonderful surroundings and a great menu choice. Opted for their special offer menu of poppadoms, chutneys etc followed by onion baghei, chicken curry, rice and Nan breads. We all had drinks and the bill for 4 people ....... only £52! Brilliant. Waiters very attentive. Going to go back this weekend. Best Indian around
